Love the build! Can you post pics of where the extended front is attached to the tub? Also how much was the front extended? The measurement from the tub to the pintle? I have a similar trailer and I am trying to figure how much I can extend it and still have reasonable road manners? Cheers ian

sure thing. will do this weekend after I pick it up. I believe the trailer is right around 139" total length from the front edge of the receiver tube on the trailer to the rear of the trailer. the original M101cdn were 114" in length but i'm not sure if that accounts for the 4" additional for the rear tow loops or not. the front section of the original M101cdn is 36" i believe and the new tongue is 64 1/4 including the receiver. the wheelbase of my jeep is 107" and the the trailer tire center line to the front receiver tube is around 101" but i'll double check all measurements for you this weekend. It should track just slightly inside of my jeep which is what we were going for and will aid in backing up.

globetrotter installed

finally got the globetrotter installed this weekend, been waiting for the better part of 5 mths to have this step completed so pretty excited to say the least. now just have to rework the front jack, it came slightly off center while moving the trailer around working on it.

by the way these tents are just awesome, they are spacious, have huge openings for windows and ventilation, and are super well made. i think i'll install some strip led lighting on the center tent pole inside to brighten it up a bit. they can be pretty dark inside if the windows are closed. the advantage of this style of tent on a trailer is that it has everything all included to go: tent, awning, and changing room.

tomorrow i'll be picking up the Deka AGM battery, installing the fridge and wiring it up to the battery, wiring the battery charger, outlet sockets, shore power, inverter, interior LED lighting for the trailer and tent. i will upload pictures once completed.

should have a shakedown run in a week or two depending on work schedule.

expedition prep

ok so we are about 3 weeks away from our Expedition America 8K. Trailer prep going on this week in my office warehouse.

Working on the layout of items needed for the expedition. The hardest part was figuring out where to place everything. I located the fridge and secondary water tank towards the rear to help with weight distribution. I also plan on carrying my ARB recovery kit back there as well; its about 40lbs or so and still allows for fridge ventilation. For my container storage I went with action packer 8 gallon. I was hoping for Rou over at Bundu Gear would have some bundu boxes as those were my first choice. They however are still unavailable so Action Packers were my backup choice. The way they are positioned right now I can double stack them and the lid will still close without touching. My plan is to run 4: camping gear, cooking/kitchenware, dog gear/items, shower/hygiene/personal. I might add a 5th for food but not 100% on that yet.

The items on the table still need to be mounted/placed in the trailer. The items on the ground still need to find their home as well. I"m shooting for having the forward section of the trailer for clothing/personal stuff for the gf and myself. All bedding will fit inside the globetrotter.

On the nose box the battery, shore power charger, inverter all have a home. The inverter is going to go on the side it is leaning up against in the photo. I am going to be running goal zero boulder 30 panels so I should be receiving their 8 mm charge controller this week. It will be mounted right next to the NOCO charger on the right side.

The last major item I'm hoping to have in time before we leave will be the new axle with the jk bolt pattern. Dying to put the Savegre's on the trailer with matching tire size to the Jeep. Anyone have info on where to find spacers to change the bolt pattern from 5 x 112 to 5 on 5?

LOL - I can't tell you how many times I've 'rearranged' how I pack my M101...and that's just for the weekends. I've used the next larger Action Packer - two sit side by side with just enough room to get hooks for a ratchet strap down to the interior tie downs. Downside of the larger ones is that you can put so much in them that they are a little heavy lifting them out!

Love the extended tongue with water, jerry can's and nose box!

Thanks for the kind words. It has been a crazy few months. Brentbba do you have any shots of your action packers set up?

the prep continues

inverter mounting complete; SS button head bolts used to match the rest of the build

Water pump mounted. Used 1 existing hole from the exterior tie downs and made 3 more. SS button head bolts used again. Just waiting on the correct 1/2" female menders and 90 degree barb fittings for the water pump. Picked up braided clear hose to match the supplied length from Frontrunner, 25' of rv/camping hose to connect the pump to the L5 heater, now just need to source a nice coiled shower hose to give me some length on the showerhead.

Globetrotter deployed; this tent is huge, our garage is 25 ft wide and it would take up at least 1/2 of it.
