You guys are starting to make me feel bad about selling my LJ... :(
Haven't listed it yet, but getting ready to...

I hope I never have to sell mine. I hope it isn't for financial reasons. That's what has kept me from building mine up, so far.
It's still a tough economy out there!!!

I built my LJR back in 2005 and some things may have changed. I went with the Teraflex 4 1/2" Long Arm, 1" body lift, Teraflex Tummy Tuck. I stuck with the stock wheels and had LT295/75R-16 tires (33"). I would consider the Garvin rear bumper, tire carrier setup. The drawback was that you needed to open the tire carrier before the tail gate. The plus side was the trail rack and can carrier option, worked out well for me. You could add a shovel/axe holder, too. For my front bumper I used Hanson and a 9000 lb Warn, can't remember the model.

Good luck with your build, we totaled our LJR and i still miss her.

Good Luck with your search. That's half the fun. Gems are getting harder to find... I'd sell you mine but then what would I drive?

It sounds like its not too late to change your mind. If your missing it already, it might be a sign to keep it.

WinInUtah - How did you like those Hankooks?

Full disclosure, I am a Hankook distributor, not the only reason ,though. They were quieter on the road than the stock MTRs and cleared stones very well. I had absolutely no problems with them in 30K miles. I went back to them for my JKUR and am just as satisfied.

For the OP, below is a pic of my LJR with JK rims and 35x12.50 mud terrains. They are nice rims and can be had for cheap; I paid $250.00 for mine (5).

Cheers

Well the Wife just realized that the 2006 Jeep Unlimited was two door not four and nixed this plan in the butt. Bummer. Not sure what to look for not. I really done want to go through the possess of building another JKU. They are just a little common now.

How did she not see that right away? Or didn't she look at any with you? Anyway, there is nothing wrong with a 2 door unless you have 3 kids. Then you need a 4 door. I have 2 kids and the LJ works just fine for my family. Its a little tight on vacations with all 4 of us and camping gear, but you learn to pack for the room you have.

Thanks. You need to see if they can make them in a 255/85R16. Thats what I would love to have.

I don't think she was paying attention until I was ready to buy. I agree that the TJL should be fine for two adults and one two year old, but the wife dose have say in this.

She wants an FJ, but I have nixed that as I am not a fan of the truck or the suicide doors.

I'd rather have my LJ than an FJ. I'd rather have a JK than and FJ as well. That independant front suspension might ride nice, but it will offer no offroad flex if you do any trail riding on your trips. I was made very aware of this last year when doing some trail riding in Colorado behind an FJ. At one river crossing I though he was going to flop it over when he hit a big hole. A JK or LJ would have just dropped a wheel into the whole instead of the whole vehicle. But their are other trade offs of course. But considerint the FJ is about the same size as a 4door JK I'd rather have the full doors and the solid axles.

Take your wife with for a couple of rides in some nice LJs. She may find its not that hard to tip the seats forward to let the kids in the back. Its a little more difficult with newborns to put them back there, but once they can crawl back on their own its not bad at all. It gets even better when they hit about 5 or 6 and they can bucke their own seat belts. All I have to do is open the door on my LJ and flip the seat foward and the kids will do the rest.

EDIT: I just wanted to add, if your not concerned about independant front suspension, you might want to check out a Nissan Xterra. They are about the same size as the LJ, they have 4 doors and I think they can fit 285/75R16s with little to now lift. They are also a fantastic looking vehicle. Much nicer than the FJs.
