Boy oh boy, I don't know if it is usually like that but traffic was a mess headed east. I came back over last night and it took me forever to get through the congestion. You might have seen me on my way in. I was driving a Commando green unlimited Rubicon pulling a trailer. Went to get me an arb bull bar on CL.

Mill Creek, I was the first email. Sometimes you get lucky I guess. Ended up costing me over seven hundred total, but I got a fun drive and meals out of that money and met a great fellow Jeeper. We talked for over an hour about setups and experiences and it was fun. Due to the death of my father and adding on to my house its been a LONG winter, so it was a good excuse to play hookie from work and go for a drive! I enjoyed seeing all the other Jeeps up that way, including yours. I told my wife to look at that JK with the Maggiolina tent, and she looked at me like I was speaking french. She doesn't speak fluid Jeep/overlander.

I emailed them a few weeks ago after seeing this post about whether they planned on building one for a 2 door JK. They got back to me pretty quick and said they have it on the list but haven't gotten to it yet. Maybe they'll have it done when I decide whether I want to really get one or not.

I sent another email yesterday to check on the status of the racks for a 2 door JK. This is the response:

We have released two racks for the 2 door JK, but they are not on our website. Here's the info:

1. BR-JPJK2D-0: Jeep JK 2 door standard rack 53" wide x 63" long x 5" tall, 100 lbs (including all brackets), $930.00
2. BR-JPJK2D-UT-0: Jeep JK 2 door all-flat UTiliyt rack 53" wide x 63" long, 95 lbs (including all brackets), $910.00

Are racks are 1-piece construction made from US-made, cold-rolled steel tubing with an epoxy under coat and durable black powder coat finish, and all stainless steel hardware, mounts, aluminum wind deflectors, and instructions included.

I still have some thinking to do about whether to go with a roof rack vs. trailer but this certainly does help.

No, never. I only have a hard top and I have only taken it off once for just a couple days. I like my AC too much I guess.

My conundrum is that I can see myself getting more use out of a trailer (M416 style) for yard tasks as well as camping. A roof rack would be more convenient since I wouldn't have to deal with spotting a trailer or be worried about it walking off if I went hiking or fishing. They are about the same cost and I am just not sure which I'd rather have. Fact of the matter is that I need space to carry things.

Hey rsb. Hows the rack working? We have decided to get the ut as well. Couple of questions, if I use the rack for cases and gas cans etc, how will that work for securing them? and what about mounting lights on it.

Don't think u will have a problem anchoring anything down, there are two main supports that run down on the inside and supports that run from side to side about every 4 inches. Baja may make something for light support a bar or something but you would have to remove the wind deflector.

Ok, I don't need lighting on the roof, My HID hellas work great. I am thinking more along the sides and rear, for perimeter lighting. Awesome, we have made the decision to use the UT rack too.
