Hi there! My name is Paulo, i'm from Terceira Island, Azores - Portugal!

After a Patrol Y260 and a bit of struggle with back problems, 2 and a half years ago i had to trade it for another Nissan...

The first Terrano 2 that i had was in mint condition, took me 2 years to put him the way i liked it, then one night someone crashed into him, destroying the front end, gearbox etc...

1_zps7bf50d75.jpg

The guy had no insurance, so is mother payed me the new Terrano, the one i have now!:costumed-smiley-007:coffeedrink:

In 2 months i changed 90% of what i had in the other to the new one, got him painted, an know, slowly i'm picking up where i left with the other...

With a little more time, i'll post some pictures of what's been done to it until now!

See you soon!

What a cool car. We never got anything like that here in the US. Can't wait for more pics.

I call it a car with offroad capabilitys and 4wd!:bike_rider: lolol

It's time to continue the diary...

We then started taking care of the bodywork and preparing to "cut and paste" in some places as needed...

A video from the last time i got out with the other Nissan Terrano

The Toyota in front of me had 33x12.5R15, i was with the 30x9.5R15! Easy! :bike_rider:

Another vid

And another...

It's a pretty capable car, as long as we know how to "deal" with it i guess!

Great to see another Terrano II R20 on here:wings: i'm onto my second one, my first was the later MK2 twin head light model with intercooler (1999) & now onto to a LWB MK4 (2005) & love them. If you can get a set of LWB springs it'll give you a 1.5" lift on the rear & just wind up the front torsion bars or a lot over here fit 2" spring spacers but you don't want to lift any further due to the angle the CV's will go to unless you drop down the front diff. With a 2" suspension lift & 2" body lift 33" tyres go on but you have to flatten the seam in the front wheel arches & the Navara D22 snorkels fit nicely but you have to make up your own plumbing to the air box. If you need any info on any of this just give me a shout

Thanks for your words! :)

Well this is also my second Terrano R20 TD27T, both of them SWB! At the moment i have 2 engines, the one on the Gray Terrano as 199.000km, and the other one as 168.000km... so they are almost "new"! eheheheh

Unfortunately in Portugal is very hard to put tires above 30x9.5R15 (in the Terrano R20) if we wanna be road legal... so i have to used the one's i have at the moment....

Regarding the lift, i had in the other, 2cms spacers on the rear springs, and cranked up the torsion bars... the max i would do without risking breaking something sonner would be 5cm spacers in the back and a good crank in the front. Above that it's better to go with a BL!

Anyway, for now i have to remove all the front bars from the other terrano and reenforce it

Something like this:

A few here in the UK have modded & fitted a second steering box to the passenger side to replace the idler making the steering bomb proof but these guy's are running 33-35" tyres. Sounds as if the laws suck a bit over there tyre wise as 31's fit on no problem apart from the front mud flaps often need trimming or removing & some have had to trim the front bumper a bit. Nice to see your not hit as bad with rust as we are over here.
Anyway good look with your build mate & will be following it:coffeedrink:

A second steering box never crossed my mind nor have i seen/heard nothing like that! WOW!

The only thing i did on the passenger's side was the usual reenforcement of the idler arm (i think that's how u call it...?)

If i was in the mainland i'd be able to go to a place with "any tires" i could put on without rubbing anywhere, speedometer with the correct readings, were i would pay around 190€ for an inspection and if all was according to the guidelines, i would get the 31", 32", etc, legally in the registration papers of the car, unfortunatelly i live in an island and sending the car to the mainland cost's around 800€ in transportation by boat...

I actually have the front bumper and mud flaps area cut out for 32" already! The previous owner had 32" but the police caught him and on top of the 120€ fine, he got the car documents seized and had to pay alot more to get them back... :-(

We have the same problem with rust around here... the moist in the air and by living very close to the sea is terrible!

At this time i'm buying oil and filter for the motor, oil for the gearbox and have my other 2 CV's to change.

The exaust was loose so i fixed it and that's it for now...

This is an old video from my other Terrano, but the exaust is exactly the same:

Sorry but i have no new pictures, or at least not very good one's! :)

Another vid from the old one... i didn't had any time yet to go for a ride with this one :-/

Just showing how to do it.... ehehhehe :sombrero::sombrero:

Well as far as i know, this is a very similar platform as the Nissan Xterra. With the exception of the torsion bars vs coilovers i guess!

Loving your build thread! I have a soft spot for those Terranos. Very cool vehicle.

I believe you are correct, they are very similar to the Xterra underneath.
