Ive run the gamut from an 81 toyota 4x4 manual with the 22re which needed constant wrenching to stay running even though it had only 70k miles on the truck, to Jeeps, to full size 3/4 ton diesels, to hilux diesels, to g waggons/land cruisers/and numerous other vehicles...
I have had the Tiregate VT mounted on my rig for about 6 months now and have no complaints. I have another full size spare mounted in the OEM tire carrier position under the bed as well. 2 is 1 1 is none and all that. Pricey, but very well made.

We used adhesive backed velcro to secure all manner of items (nav/Comms equipment etc) in our rigs overseas and i do the same here. Works like a champ. The GPS base in these pics had velcro secured by gorilla glue.

missed your question. Dougs place is out of his house/garage. Take Highway 2west out of kalispell a few miles. His place is a green house on the left (south) side of the highway...if you hit that gas station on 2 west before kila you have gone too far. Bumper ran about 2k...
