  • Chad,
Thanks for the reply. I now have the 1 ton LB and looking at the intercooler, ac heat exchanger, trans cooler, and radiator, I do not have the room to mount the reciver as high as I would like. I had a 2001 offroad pkg 1500 QC Dodge with flip pac. I fabbed a custom front reciver for that that exited through the Sport bumper and did not cost me any approach angle. I'm still looking at options but do not want dedicated winch on front bumper. I rather have the front reciver and move the winch as required when needed, and store in stealth mode when not.

    Hi Robert,

First off, my truck is a half ton that has been heavily modified. They don't offer a short bed reg cab in a 3/4 or one ton but the half ton after a SAS to a 3/4 HP44 up front and a one tone Chevy 14 bolt rear does just fine.
The winch mount in the front is a front receiver that i modified to exit through the bumper gap rather than under the bumper. The approach angle is completely shot without the modification. I just cut the arms off of it and shortened it a bit so that it fit up in the frame rails. A few holes and some half inch bolts and it was right where i wanted it. The bumper was built later, "around" the receiver. All custom of course.
Let me know if you need any other info.
    Chad
