I don't have a materials list to be able to tell you accurately how much steel I used. Sorry. It's also likely that yours would be slightly different than mine so it's probably best to just draw yours out and get your measurements from that. As for the gas struts, I would see what the weight of the rack ends up at and then add the weight of the tent to get an idea of the strength of the struts you'll need. I ended up with 4x 50lb struts on mine.
