Not sure if you have solved your thermal bridging issues in the roof yet, but if you haven't; what worked exceptionally well for me was a butyl rubber compound that Home Depot or other home improvement centers carry for applying to door flashings prior to installing prehung metal doors in buildings. It was relatively cheap for a 50' x 6" roll and is adhesive backed for easy working. I am working on a stealth camper in a F 250 with an ARE aluminum topper on the back. I have two layers of R 10 aluminum backed insulation and the rubber did the trick on my thermal bridging problems. Look forward to many more interesting posts from you.
