Colorado Trail Race - Wish me luck

"The trail isn't going anywhere..." Hate to bum you out, but they just moved it last weekend. It goes through Iowa now. ;) For the record, you're a hell of a rider and I have little doubt you'll be back to the CTR to stomp on the pedals. Kurt is out there giving it a go...

    Garage storage set up

My experience has been the same. I had a lot of problems with my forks (Manitou Black and then a Reba) before I finally figured out that my hanging my bikes upside down was the culprit. Pulley system is tight. I've also built bike trees in the past (2x4s and closet shelving bracket, the...

    1 Bike, 1 Dude, 1 Gear, 1 big day

Sweet trek there Bubba. Mine wasn't that long Saturday, not nearly. What do you have working for this coming wknd? How about an 8 AM departure and we try to link Copper Creek with Groom?

    November 7th - Prescott - Soul Ride

Daryl used to work for Titus Cycles and now heads up FORM in Sedona. The welds on those frames he had were phenomenally done. You cannot beat a handbuilt frame by someone who knows exactly what they're doing. And keeping it local is what it's all about. That's the kind of company I'd...

    November 7th - Prescott - Soul Ride

I will loan you $1600 next month for a new frame if you'll loan me $30 tomorrow to fill up the Suby!

His belt-driven SS Form was even more beautiful. Exact same bike but SS. The custom-machined coupling on the drive-side seatstay was incredible. $1,600 retail for the steel versions.

Flounder- Feel free to try to lure these folks by letting 'em know that we're offering a cooler of Pabst. Or, are ExPo folks' tastes too high-falutin' for PBR? :sombrero:

Surly Pugsley or other fat bikes- Ultimate ExPo bikes?

Flounder and I know some cats in Durango who did a Stand By Me tour on Pugsleys, from Silverton back to Durango on the narrow gauge railroad tracks. Unanimously considered by the miscreants involved to be the best adventure they've ever had on bikes... and these guys have been on some serious...

    What is Adventure Bicycling

Roman is the consummate self-powered adventurer, but not the consummate bikepacker, I would argue. His almost 800-mile traverse of the Alaska Range was a great feat, and wonderfully documented, but there are guys out there like Mike Curiak who are doing trips like that 2-3 times per year...

    What is Adventure Bicycling

I'm down. I'd love to compare our 1x1-equipped Silverango trip to the same route done with a 1x9. Average speed will be about the same, but I'm betting that comfort, enjoyment and lack-of-hobbling-on-a-mutinous-knee factors will be more favorable.

    69er MTB

Sounds great. Anyone who would tell you you're going wrong by ordering a custom Sycip is either nuts or just has cheap taste in bikes. Can't wait to see the new ride!

    69er MTB

I too have heard other people say the 69ers felt like the rear wheel was slowing down the rest of the bike, but haven't been on one myself. I'm willing to bet I'd be dissatisfied with one. There are several frame builders making killer 29er frames with chainstays just as short as any 26" bike...
