An '06 popped up at my local dealership this morning. 151,000 miles. They are asking just under $18,000 out the door. Timing belt has been done. Florida vehicle. Been in NC for 6 years. All electric works. Air bags seem to be okay. No surface rust that I can see. Anything else to be weary of...

If I hadn't just bought a T4R I'd be driving to get this right now. This gives an XJ a near stock appearing, heavy duty, tire carrier. And this is no longer available from the manufacturer. I've kept an eye out for one for 2 yrs. GLWS.

I bailed on the salvage title LC. I ended up with an '06 4Runner. Not exactly what I wanted to do but it made more sense for now. Hopefully my search for an LC will resume in a year or so. Thanks so much to everyone for the input and advice.

After all that long winded response forgot to add that I've already checked in insurance. My provider will cover it. And Seller says he will provide parts list from repairs he did that totals $7000. Tells me that if he bought it for $1000 in totaled/wrecked condition he is trying g to pocket...

Yeah i know. A bit disconcerting to say the least. Not sure it helps, but current owner/seller bought it damaged and did all the repair work.
