    99 Trooper before/after lift

I think that is the correct answer. 285s are too much tire for the brakes. 235s are OK too.

Is a RRC a reasonable daily driver?

276,000 on the original. Good points. It doesn't run that well, though I think there are ignition issues, and pretty sure all the ground straps are shot. It was always part of the plan, and to be honest I never re-thought it. LT230 from a '98 Disco with 140,000 (transmission too).

Is a RRC a reasonable daily driver?

Hello ExPo Land Rover Brain Trust, I'm in need of a new daily driver. Currently sitting in my driveway is a project RRC (1991 Great Divide) I adopted from a friend, which is to say the truck is not a wholly unknown quantity, but there are a number of problems that she never figured out, pretty...

    Rooftop Tent Positioning

No first hand experience with the LR3, but on the Disco II, putting the tent aft, as most people do, noticeably unbalances the vehicle. I haven't tried it mounted forward as you are asking, but logic suggests it would be better. You won't feel it on dirt roads, but any technical terrain you will...

Dual battery install on my 2009 LR3

Are Optima batteries off the naughty list? They were view as junk for a while. Hoping quality has returned to the pre-Mexico levels. A couple Optimas in my Rangie would be nice.

    Rover Classic

I think so. The usual suspects have them. I think I picked one up from Paul Grant for a future project.

    Elinchrom Ranger RX AS Kit

What are you using instead, Quadras? So tempting.

    Need winch advice

The best bargain winch is a Warn on sale or a very lightly used one. I wouldn't turn up my nose at a Superwinch though.

    Backcountry Navigator offline map recommendation?

Not sure what your Colorado plans are, but try this for the Garmin: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/197/

Weird 1987 Range Rover Classic I purchased

I can see how you might think that, but they are in fact part of the factory optional massaging front seats (no, they are not). As for the air filter, so many jokes it's hard to know where to start.

    OruxMaps for Android

Bringing this thread back. Is anyone using Orux? Thinking about giving it a try. It is free, but it looks like a pretty significant learning curve before you can use it.

    What to do with a 95 D1?

I have an Isuzu Trooper in my driveway that matches the same description.

    Overland Journal: Discovery I, 5-speed

Good to hear. I think I may try the Land Rover springs Oryx mentioned in the other thread. I may just go with 245/75-16 tires, but that is for other reason that don't factor into a Disco (where to put the spare).

2001 Discovery - short range expo build

Since you seem to have the maintenance working, let me jump ahead to the fun bits. Roof tents are the greatest things ever when you are in camp and sleeping in them. However, they significantly affect the handling on a D2 in any technical terrain, and the extra height of the D2 makes packing up...

Need an Honest review of an Disco 3

I would say everything you have heard about LR3s is true -- all the good and all the bad. A Disco II can be made more capable than a LR3, but the LR3 will handle trails within its capabilities better than the D2. The LR3 is the only vehicle I have had to reboot on the trail, and several times at...
