The rig is neat and all but I think one must consider them impacts such a heavy vehicle has on the environment. Some rigs are simply too large and literally teraform the trails and roads as they meander through them. Tread lightly will be impossible after a rain with that much weight displacing...
You could fit a pretty large fridge there. Excellent spot. I have an ARB but if I could do do it again I’d go Engel combi (fridge freezer or both) I feel like the arb is not very efficient with energy. But that’s a whole other can of worms discussion.
You lose more space in the cooler after you add ice. No man in existence ever says “Wish I went for that regular overpriced cooler instead of the fridge.’’
Unless of course you are a boater/hunter etc who needs portability. The volume sizes are indeed confusing accross manufacturers, coolers...
My camper shell has rain gutters so any water that drips off the canvas makes it’s way to the gutters. However, there is a bit of sagging between tie down points (I just use paracord or bungees) and enough rainfall may overwhelm the gutters but I honestly don’t care, I can just shut side window...
I second this mod. Run mine through a base camp water heater and have a valve to use only cold (kitchen sink sprayer). Best mod yet! Powered by a yeti 150
I never understood the more costly complicated setups to be honest. But then again I like to remove the tank if I need to use the pickup as...
Sure thing. Here’s the amazon link as well to the canvas and cleats. The canvas is quite robust but it does smell badly for a while due to whatever treatment. It’s hand made here in the good old USA.

I picked up a heavy duty canvas tarp off amazon (some local tractor supply stores have them too) and installed tie down cleats to the roof of my canopy. Two tent poles from REI (heavy duty type) and bobs your uncle.
Agreed. But also agree that this line of logic applies to virtually anything... fuel...water...etc.. based on the guys uses it seems overkill. However he also mentioned he needs good healthy food which is remarkably difficult to come across these days. I think maybe one large fridge? I suppose...
This is really a great idea. The market is flooded with Pre-built campers that are “turn key” but configured in the mind of someone else (driving costs to the msrp of the truck!). The greatest fun I have is tinkering and customizing my aluminum camper shell for MY uses. And it can still be used...
