I don't think it would break if you use high strength aftermarket parts. The 6.2 diesel is not a powerhouse. It was built for better economy. It only has about 140 HP and 250 ft. lbs of torque. No more than a Rover V8. Plus you are running an auto trans which is easier on things.

The rise of "lifetime" coolant, "lifetime" transmission fluid and ultra-high interval synthetic oil changes has had a misleading effect on maintenance philosophies. Part of the throw away society we've become.

If you wouldn't mind, please measure the primary resistance on the Bosch and Lucas coils when disconnected. I'd be interested to know the figures. Thanks, David

I've found that they are very sensitive to having a stock coil as well. I converted one of my to a Pertronix coil, which was supposed to work with it, and it ran really rough. Put the stock coil back on and smooth. I tried an MSD coil on another and that was the same issue.

I had 215's on a RRC and they were perfect. Try them.

Maintenance history aside, the 3.9 and 4.2 are about equal. The 3.5 (87 and 88 in America) is the most reliable of all.

Ultimately, this whole story comes down to a personal choice: (1.) Helping make a wrong right. (2.) Making as much money as possible.
