    New to Fly Fishing

Was just going to recommend Bob Mitchells Fly Shop. There is quite a bit of trout fishing in Minnesota, depending on where you live. Around the cities, head SE to the Whitewater State Park area. In the north, head to the Arrowhead. Beyond trout, bluegill/sunfish are a hoot on top water poppers...

What would be a decent "starter" set up for a beginner

Contrary to some posts, fly-fishing is for all of us; it's not that complex. You do not have to find the perfect rod/reel/line combo to get started, you first have to find out if you like it. What I would recommend, is finding a cheap setup that gets you out on the water. As you become more...

    Splints

For forearm or wrist on most anyone, or tib/fib on a child, you'd be surprised how well a magazine and a rectangular bandage works. The best mags have a glued binding vs. stapled. i.e. Cosmo works better than US Weekly.

    Built my sleeping platform!

I suggest putting some 2" X slides perpendicular to you lower cross members. Those totes get full and it may be a PITA to slide them in.

7 days, 7,231kms. Western USA, QPDO style!

I admire the trip and the miles covered but man you missed sooooooooo much. I'm not sure a month is enough time to cover that much real estate. You drove right by Glacier, Yellowstone, the back side of the Tetons, Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons, etc. And that is a short list of your trip...

    Park city Utah area trails?

Not only will there still BE snow in and around the Park City area, they will get a considerable amount of snow in March. It would not be too unusual to wake up to six to 20 inches of new snow every day of your trip.

Basic ground tent options, thinking of returning REI base camp 6

Also have the Eureka Equinox 6. It has been a great family tent for more than 15 years. The only negatives: Not the easiest to set up solo. Possible, but MUCH easier with two. It is not a light, small package. I'm guessing 10" X 30" stowed and with my ground cloth and vestibule, it probably tops...

    Camp toilet modifications

Find a six gal. bucket This works great. If you find a six gallon bucket you get about four more inches of height. Same diameter.

Great looking 4Runner. Very reasonable miles. Not to push traffic from here, but as another resource, t4r.org can't be beat for a purely 4Runner resource.
