Interesting, I have a friend who’s getting a box put on his LX470 by Allan at Global.Expedition. They are using Lemker Panels. I was at Overland shop a few weeks ago and got a chance to take a look at the panels, and the mini camper mock-up made with them…impressive.
Can’t wait to see his rig...
Ha, yeah, was actually editing video eve. I sent this and my brain could t handle the multitasking.
It does look like the Fawo handle..seems pretty cheap. Need to do some research on them.
Does anybody know the brand/model of the latches seen in this video at roughly 58 seconds in? https://www.motor1.com/news/390202/burow-reisemobile-oman-ford-ranger/
Anybody have any experience with these or something similar? Recommend?
Well, most things. But the dimensions of the frame itself, location of mounting points, axle, hump above the axle, tank fill, and exact dimensions of the cab itself are critical during the design stage.
Yeah, I'm thinking more for protection of the fan and solar panels than anything else. I certainly won't be wheeling my rig, but even the forest service roads can be pretty crowded with trees here in the SouthEastern U.S.
@Victorian do you recommend the panels are glued to the panels...
Yes, I’m aware of no DIY from TC but even if I use their panels and have someone put it together the rub rails will likely be DIY so just curious how it all goes together.
I’ve never touched an extrusion so I had no idea they were as strong as you describe. Still, if they are a key part of...
Good plan.
As to insurance, FWIW I had issues with my Van when I got it..it was a wheelchair can, complete with rear lift, and was a commercial vehicle when I bought it. Progressive insurance, worked with me to get it taken care of..honestly don’t remember the solution but it did take multiple...
And a couple other questions for you...unrelated to the one above.
#1 - How does one generally get wiring and/or plumbing hoses from one side of the vehicle to the other.
Is it possible to do that via the wire runs in the extrusions...run the wires around the perimeter? If so, how would you...
@Victorian Speaking of doors, it is possible to make a custom entry door out of your panels? Meaning, do you have enough extrusion variety that someone could use a section of the TC panel and your extrusions to make a door and frame in a TC camper?
I suspect the hinges and latch will need some...
Does anybody have CAD files or any dimensionally accurate drawings of an E-450 they are willing to share...or have a lead where I can get them? I'm at the point where I need to move beyond a scratchpad and want to mock up my interior and component layout (tanks, batteries etc) to make sure it...
How are these mounted to the roof? The extrusion pieces on the perimeter of the box are hollow so I assume they are not mounted there, so how does one mount them? Can't find many examples of these on DIY boxes.
For reference, this is how I’ve been traveling on some big trips…she has been off-road plenty, but mostly just forest service roads and minor offshoots of them. Only grounded the rear rack a couple times, and only used the rear locker in real life twice..both times leaving a wet grassy field...
Awesome. Yeah, for my RB van I just put tome EZ cool under the front carpet and then 1" foam board, 1/4" snap-together wood flooring and then a sheet of vinyl on top of all of that. The hight difference is a non-issue. I've climbed in and under a couple dozen Class C RVs at this stage and am...
