head gaskets... thanks for the input everyone. i'm not familiar with all vehicles, but i know there are many fords, nissans and toyotas that have gotten over 200k with out changing a head gasket. i still haven't heard from any disco II owners who have gotten 200k with out changing a head...

i figured as much. what i'm really trying to figure out is, how reliable is the disco II engine.

wow 188k, thats the highest milage i've heard of on a disco II with out having to replace anything major.

i've read and heard that disco II's are notorious for blowing their headgaskets at some point. i've got 81k on my disco II and still running the original gaskets. i was just wondering how many miles others are experiencing before having to replace head gaskets or any other major expense...

I was thinking of installing a full length roof rack on my disco II. Can anyone with experience with the roof racks tell me if there is a problem with wind noise at fwy speeds?

the photo of my DII with the 18's was taken at pismo. i didn't drive back into the dunes. mostly stayed along the beach. are you able to climb some of the dunes with the 18's? do they require you to have a flag if you want to drive in the dunes?
