Oddly enough, I've noticed with mine (RTT mounted on truck shell, just behind the antenna which is at rear of cab) that my reception is fine when traveling south, but spotty when traveling north. I'm not familiar with the radio specifics, but I'm guessing the satellites are to the south of me...

For commercial rafting trips (which is my experience with them), these things are the bees knees. A little bulky and overkill for small groups though. They're good or 60 user days...
