    winch wars

Warn 8274, I've been beating mine for 10 years now and it's still pulling my 80 series Landcruiser through everything I need to get through. It's been on three rigs now and has pulled countless full size trucks out that I wouldn't hesitate to put one on you vehicle. 8274 is a great winch, built...

Patching a torn sidewall on tire

A side wall patch will get you off the trail (sometimes) but not safe for any street use. My thought is that the sidewall flexes too much under the load of the vehicle for a repair to be permanent. It's a bummer replacing a practically new tire but I've done it before too. Driving with a...

    Tacoma to 80 series?

With 315's and stock gears mine was slow... but when I swapped in 5.29's it gained back the oomph. Even with 37's I'm able to pull most hills at the speed limit with my rig fully loaded for camping. The cruisers are tough, reliable rigs that do what you ask of them without hesitating.

I wouldn't worry too much about frame damage on a 80 series, mine had been laid on its side, once you look at the frame you'll know why they don't have problems (boxed frame). Sounds like you made...

What is the greatest overland vehicle ever sold new in the US?

Landcruiser 80 series - Solid axles front and rear- reliable, easier to maintain, tougher with larger tires, easier to lift for the larger tires, - Lockers front and rear- the 100 series may have the traction control, but turning the dial and having it all locked up is sweet. - Comfortable- long...

    Potential 80 acquisition

That really depends on what you want to do with it. I really liked my mini Toyota's until I wanted to wheel and go exploring with 3 kids, then it got a bit small. It sounds like you have done all the maintenance on your rig and have it set up how you like it and you'd be getting into a...
