Next step was to frame the camper
This process took a little over one month. First I built the floor which was reinforced for mounting to the flatbed frame and fully filled with insulation. I framed all the walls on the ground and had a few friends help me lift them into place on the floor...
Before the frame was mounted on the flatbed I took advantage of the extra space to swap on some Rancho Rs9000xl shocks. They hold more fluid than the factory shocks and are adjustable. I suspect I will have them on the highest setting all the time.
Along with these shocks I plan to install...
As promised my next build thread is here, however it is no longer a a box truck but now a full on DIY Earthroamer style cabin on a flatbed. More of the poor mans dry cabin built for harsh Alaskan winters. Check it out if you wanna follow the build!

Refinishing the flatbed
The truck cab and frame were in excellent condition but the flatbed was ready to be cleaned and refinished. After many hours on the angle grinder I cleaned every inch of the steel flatbed frame.

@Surferlee that is a sick looking set up! Ball joint failure is no joke on these trucks. Was a recall item for all years of the first gen if I recall. Although I have seen them separate on 4runners and Tacomas around this same vintage. Glad your truck survived the indecent.
The final product has arrived!
The rack was made with aluminum extrusion bars, 3 inch angle, and flat faring. Stainless button head screws and t slot nuts needed as well. Just like one from Prinsu at a fraction of the price.
This will be the end of this build thread as the truck...

Awesome Cache Truck Camper that is tough enough for Alaskan winter and light enough to leave on your truck all year! Ready to go skiing this weekend! Looks a little funny on my flatbed truck but it fits a full size pickup perfectly!
Unfortunately I am recovering from an injury and it is...
Just dumped some photos of the camper over at my other flatbed thread if anyone was curious about the details. Shows the full interior, much nicer inside.
