That's very interesting, I didn't realize MB had shock absorbers installed on the subframe as stock components. It makes sense thinking about how the truck would react if you hit a big bump at high speed - in that case you don't necessarily want a really flexible frame, you want the truck...
One thing that has happened to me a few times is this: I think the batteries are dead because the truck won't start, dash lights won't come on, etc. But then the voltage on the batteries looks okay. So I just "jiggle" the connections a bit, especially the smaller wires, and then everything is...
Just to reiterate, I don't think Lehel has had any problems with the DPF....DPFs get a bad rap but really they are quite reliable, especially with the long drives and mountain passes typical in expedition travel that get the DPF really hot and burn the soot out. Usually the only time they are a...
The Mitsubishi website says Fusos 2008 and newer are OBDII compliant. I would think this means a cheap OBD code reader would be all you need for diagnostics.

Unfortunately on my 2004 FG the only option seems to be the proprietary Mitsubishi...
Great camper Brent! Really impressed by how everything turned out.
Note that the mounting you describe is similar to the Unimog 4 point (diamond) mounting system - the fixed mount is right above the rear axle, and there is a forward pivot near the cab and a rear pivot near the end of the frame...
The plastic welding technique you used for the storage box is very interesting! It seems to produce good results. I hadn't heard of that before - I may have to use it on my truck.
For those that are interested I found a tutorial video here:

Does anyone have good pictures or more info on these doors? I'm trying to get some ideas for how to do the doors on my camper...
One thing I've tried to figure out - are they just glued to the wall material, or are they more integrated into the camper frame?
I found it interesting to compare the Oka video posted recently with the Unicat videos. The Oka appears to have a totally rigid mounting:
My thought is that for fast rally-type driving over rough terrain, the rigid mounting may be better, to reduce the possibility of harmonic oscillations...
I ended up getting a 40 gallon fuel tank from a local truck salvage operation (Miller Truck Salvage in Portland OR). It was only $150 which seemed pretty good to me. 40 gallons isn't a lot of capacity but I can always add a second tank. There isn't a lot of room on the frame rail anyway.
The...
The couple in the Ecamper just made it to the end of the road - Tierra del Fuego:

Goes to show you don't have to have a built-up Unicat or Earthroamer to get to some really cool places!
There is another couple traveling Central America in an Ecamper...
I just noticed Darrin Fink has some good videos of his FG and FM campers on his YouTube page:

gait,
Not sure if you saw this video, I had it posted in my camper build thread:

Might be helpful.
Personally, I don't feel the lateral motion due to twisting is significant enough to negatively affect the camper. The truck frame itself isn't 100% rigid...
I'm leaning towards the wrecking yard idea now...it seems this fuel tank for an International truck should fit pretty well:

It's $450 which I guess is reasonable? The issue is that i need a short tank, since the camper drops down into the rear part of the factory tank.
This tank is 55...
