    Canadian parts source

The biggest Fuso depot on the west coast is: https://www.cullenwesternstar.com/ They are in Langley, BC, just outside of Vancouver. They always seem to have parts on hand when I call them. John

FG 649 2004 with frame rust - to buy or not to buy

Congratulations! and welcome to the Fuso Family :) The two biggest things (so far) to improve ride quality for me : 37" tires and 3000 pound insulated box on the back. I'm going in for some spring work in a week or two and will see how that goes. As a 6' 220 guy, the seating position isn't...

    Tilting the cab

My 2003 FG649 runs with the cab tilted. The manual points it out.

FG 649 2004 with frame rust - to buy or not to buy

I am limited to the experience with only the Fuso I have. I had very little visible rust on a truck from California and was very pleased until I took the bed off. The hidden areas were quite scale-y and badly pitted, and needed immediate intervention. Ultimately it was all in the top flange...

    Hitch ball through crossmember?... Maybe..

I accept your statement. I have seen spring mounts with a pair of nested channels that function as telescoping mount. These would control fore and aft shifting and also serve to ensure the rails come back down where they belong. I have also seen spring mounts that are simply two pieces of...

    Hitch ball through crossmember?... Maybe..

Six, I don't agree with the equivalence comparison of a spring mount subframe to your "full suspension" concept. It just doesn't have the range of motion to create a slinky. I would suggest that spring mounts are much different because they permit a very limited amount of travel before become...

    Hitch ball through crossmember?... Maybe..

When thinking of attaching the trailer to the truck chassis using the trailer suspension, you have to consider the "slinky effect" of sprung mass on top of an already sprung platform (the truck frame). This thing might have some very surprising and non-linear leaning behaviours! I think you...

    Hitch ball through crossmember?... Maybe..

I'm no engineer, but my instincts are that is not a good plan. How about converting a 5th wheel saddle from a pickup truck to span the width and tie in to the rails in a way that spreads the load?

Pressurized water tank or use suction water pumps

Considering the additional complications of pressurized system and the unique consequences of several different failure modes, I don't see any good reason to chose it over a standard pump system.

    Need Hino Ranger Truck Advice

Wow! Sounds like you're gonna love the hell out of that truck! Soak it in - life doesn't offer enough of those moments. :)

    Need Hino Ranger Truck Advice

Hino makes a solid truck. There many factors for you to weigh - parts availability for a 32 year old truck being perhaps the most fundamental. What sort of service did it perform in its previous lives? Hauling round bales across the prairie is easy, hauling dry freight over the Rockies is...

    Another Fuso Build Thread

I gave some real consideration to pop-top and Alaska style designs for my camper. Unfortunately my climate is west-coast wet and Canada cold. Mildew is a real problem here, and anyone with a tent trailer has to go to lengths to dry them out after every trip. The real advantages of the lower...

Excellent point about heat related health emergencies. The insulated body has yet to be tested in any environment - one might just do the trick. The rims have 2 stems so I can air from either side :)

That’s funny :) it was set up like yours when I first looked at it. I declined to buy the camper....

    Another Fuso Build Thread

This has been given some real thought! The unit is 300 pounds (up high!) and needs an additional AC compressor mounted on the engine. I could solve this in future with a $99 window unit and some creativity... The Black Rock desert is on the list of places to visit, so something will be figured out!
