    Flat towing JEEP question

I have the ubiquitous Jeep TJ Smittybilt XRC, (I think), and there is a tow bar made for it. It is a bit laborious to attach to the bumper, but I use it to tow the Jeep behind my pickup which provides a more comfortable ride. If towing behind a motor home I would probably suggest a purpose...

Need advice on dual band antenna and mount

I took a flat bracket that is pictured above and then added a Larsen L bracket underneath it so the 3/4 inch holes align and the nmo will attach through both mounts. I used a nmo thick mount since it was basically going through two mounts. When I added the L mount the whole thing became stiffer...

Anyone use HAM 20M or 40M HF?

Used to run HF mobile back in the day. Had some great times on 10 meters when the band was wide open. Do not use now however. Have fun.

    Equipment Questions

See the photos above. It is a dual band antenna which I believe is a 1/2 wave on 2 meters and it works well on the fender mount.

    Equipment Questions

Unfortunately I’m a dinosaur for most newer modes. I have a tj and a Ram truck and the TM-281 front mounted speaker was the main selling point, along with being mil spec. Bought both of mine new. I would love to pick up two more for my work van and my Camper. Back in the day I loved working...

    Equipment Questions

Kind of an old school setup but it’s an old school Jeep. Larsen NMO 2/70 dual band on a mashup fender mount and Kenwood 2 meter radio, (TN241). The antenna mounting location is popular for Jeeps, and this antenna is popular for people mounting in this location due to ground plane...

I really need to get out of last century and get digital. Sounds fun.

my experience with GMRS so far

Sorry I wasn’t succinct enough. The mast would hold three devices ultimately, a dual band ham antenna, and a weather sensor and directional cell antenna lower on the mast.

my experience with GMRS so far

So that antenna looks like a cellular antenna. If so, what are you using as a booster. I have ATT and most of the RV camping destinations around here sport lousy At&T service. I am looking for a setup to support Cellular, Amateur VHF/UHF, and a Weather station on my Camper. Sorry to hijack...

Can the iPad really be used as an out-of-signal range, off-road GPS device?

It is unfortunate that Torque does not have an apple version, (that I'm aware of).

Maximize Your Dashboard Space with this Custom Installation of the MicroMobile MXT275

Don’t have any experience with GMRS. But an amateur radio rig like this would be helpful in my Jeep. It’s tight trying to mount a 2 meter radio in a TJ

Would this bracket be a viable HAM antenna mounting point?

What everyone else said. I mounted a Larsen 2/70 dual band antenna to a bracket on the fender on my TJ. Works fine. Just make sure you have a good ground and you should be fine.
