    Newbie needs help spending money!

Thank for all of the info everyone! Looks like it all kind of confirms the type of bike I've been wanting. I think the TW200 is my front runner right now, but it looks aike all of the bikes mentioned are good choices as well. I'm not too worried about highway speeds - I'll probably usually...

    Newbie needs help spending money!

I'm brand-new to motorcycles and looking to get into riding dual-sport/adventure. My background is in backpacking and overland type camping in my truck. A bike would get me further and appeals to my minimalist tendencies. After rattling down all of the washboard dirt roads on Costa Rica in a...

flatbed / camper rear overhang guidelines

I'll be following this thread as well - have a 3/4 ton Ram qcsb that I'm considering a custom flatbed camper build. Pretty light hopefully but wondering about going 7' bed with a 1' "expo overhang" with an angle back to the 7' to help departure. Also considering a direct frame mount option as...

    Flatbed questions -Ram 2500 ccsb

Now we're getting somewhere! GoinBoardin said what I've been wondering which is can I just skip the bed altogether. I am still hanging on to the idea of a poss flatbed and removable setup though. If I go full-time camper, I'd need another solution for firewood gathering (we heat with wood)...

    Basil Lynch's 2000 F250 Expedition camper build

Sweet rig - I've been studying your setup thinking of doing something similar. Is the camper built up directly from the truck frame rails? Any issues with twisting or flex? Also was it built on SB or LB wheelbase?

    Flatbed questions -Ram 2500 ccsb

Front axle duals?!? Not interested in that, but would possibly consider rear duals or more likely super singles if weight got out of hand. I don't think I would need a longer frame either. I sketched up a pretty workable plan that would go on a 7x7 flatbed with a queen size (east-west) cab...

    Flatbed questions -Ram 2500 ccsb

In the seemingly never-ending quest to figure out our next rig, I've been researching getting a flatbed truck and building my own flatbed-style camper for it. I've been focusing on finding a 1-ton or greater dually 4x4 platform, but they've proven to be tough to find with a crew/extra cab, 4wd...

    Looking for suggestions

My son loves the overhead bunk (9) so I'm good there - but having 3 vs 2 makes things tough. We're starting to look at small class c's as well. Not very "expo" but they are convenient. Also expensive... lots of upside and downside to any rv type.

    Looking for suggestions

Spent some more time looking at ideas - would be easy to throw budget to the wind and drive off happy 80-100k later The Lance 825 is damn close - the dinette bed is only 36" wide with a bunk above. I'd need to fit two on that dinette which is doable now, but would be...

    Looking for suggestions

Thanks for the reply! - the slides sure open up some possibilities for space, but probably a no go for a 2500. It seems like somewhat of an overload is almost inevitable. You see countless 2500s on the road but if you look up the specs on the camper on the back they're already over or close to it.

    Looking for suggestions

Hi! We are a family of 5 (kids 6, 6, and 9). Were considering going from our travel trailer to a truck camper and just starting to look at options. We want to be able to boondock further out and take it skiing for both overnighters and day trips. First off, it appears that very few campers...

Cascade Camper Panther light weight slide in camper.

Could this go on a Ram 2500 qcsb? I've seen similar that hang out over the tailgate. Doesn't look like weight would be an issue.

    Bigger family solutions?

Great ideas everyone, thanks! I like the RTT on a cargo conversion - I had something like that in mind with maybe a dinette/convertible bed in the main trailer.

Bigger is better? Long vs short bed

I have a 2003 Ram2500 crew cab short bed. The Ram rides so high on solid axles (and slightly oversized tires), that it feels like a keep off road. The Ram is a bit shorter than the other ccsb's. I'm fine with the short bed until I start thinking camper. That said I just barely get to some...

    Bigger family solutions?

Hi! We are currently looking at getting rid of our travel trailer (33' overall !?!) and coming up with a more mobile solution. The plan for now is retain my Ram 2500 Cummins, but I would like something 1/2 ton towable or ideally even workable with a JKU or 4Runner weight-wise. We are a...
