It seems like once a year I come around and say I need to update this more. Well here I am again.
Lots has happened since my last update. I'll have to go back and fill that in when I get time. But since then, the 4Runner is now mine. We sold the first ten Tundra and got the wife something a...
Red 5th Gen Runner with moderate lift, sliders and front runner rack. We went about halfway down to avoid some of the traffic with the kiddos playing and saw ya on the way back.
I was going to try to turn around to get another look at it and say hey. But the traffic was stupid at that time...
People have been adding bumpers and winches to these things stock for 20+ years. I agree, full skids is probably overkill until you beat the hell out of the stock ones and you'll want sliders before that. Self recovery is never a bad thing. Accidents happen on forest roads too. Sure suspension...
Going long travel in the rear is nice but can open up a can of worms. Extended brake lines, drive shaft rubbing on gas tank skid when articulated. I 100% planned on going that route but after seeing some of the maintenance involved with a good friends, I like not worrying about it. Mid travel...
I was running 650's with bumper and winch. I couldn't get the front end up. We literally almost have the exact same truck except for bumper. Even with the 700's i felt I was sitting too low. I took the winch bumper/push bar thing off and its been so freakin nice.
I've spoken with Total Chaos. They DO NOT have a kit that will work for our truck. However, Marlin Crawler has this kit in the works.
I would highly recommend calling just to show interest, last time I talked to them our kit was next. But my plan is to bend the cam tab back straight then...
I guess it's a different design...?
I was wondering if the Marlin kit was the way to go. Having someone bend it back straight and put their kit on to reinforce it. Not sure if my logic will work but. At least sounds good in my head
So took the truck in today to have the alignment checked after noticing wear in a new set of tires with just over 1k miles on them. Took to a different shop than who previously aligned it.
They pointed out I have a bent cam tab and they could not align. Told me I'm pretty much up ******** creek and...
Years ago I had a fiberglass bed cover on a Tacoma. I cut the floor out of an old ground tent. Pop open the cover, throw the tent over it and bungee the anchor points to the bedsides. It was awesome. Eventually I epoxies snap buttons to the under side of the shell trim. Got some solar shade and...
Timing belt and new lower ball joints. OEM only. Many aftermarket brands are known to fail and results aren't pretty. Check for rust. Especially on the frame
Well I really suck at updating this stuff. Need to get more on the ball.
It's been over a year since I've updated anything. The 4Runner is still stock. Ive got some suspension in the garage for it but no huge rush to put on in this Texas heat. We did get a roof top tent for it to make sleeping...
Yeah, he wanted a long bed but found a short bed pretty much already built for an amazing price. Quicksand Off Road with shell and pretty much the full ARB works. Bumpers OME BP-51, Skids. It's a good looking truck.
