    FZJ80 shopping- am I crazy?

I get what you are saying but I still get 18+ mpg in my 80 (on 35s) going 75 mph. True, I have a PDI airbox and intercooler and I have a GTurbo GTX. But I can hold what ever speed I want on what ever hill is out there. (I get scared to take my 80 faster than 85 mph, I will admit) Now, I've...

    FZJ80 shopping- am I crazy?

Definitely try for an HDJ81... you'll get almost 20mpg overall and can get good power out of them with minor mods. My 80 is still dead reliable and I decide to take it whenever I get remote over any of our new vehicles. (after almost a decade of ownership and almost 100,000 miles traveled, I...

Sold - 1986 FJ60 ($32k, negotiable) - Built to crawl or explore, clean and ready for a new owner

This is crazy. I see so many rigs on here with a tent bolted to the top. This rig looks to be well built with mods that actually work. It's got fuel injection on a crazy reliable engine, lockers, a crawl box, solid suspension... and it seems as though the owner has actually put good useful...

Full Size - Small Diesels: why so unpopular?

I understand what you are saying here. I wanted to respond to the perception that modern diesel emissions will fail and that modern diesels aren't reliable. Regarding the quality of diesels that are both smaller and modern, I can't say. I can say that my small but older 1HDT diesel has about...

Full Size - Small Diesels: why so unpopular?

I see your point and somewhat agree. But, I wouldn't go so far as to say that you need to work the engine hard to get that kind of lifespan out of them. You just need to get the engine/exhaust up to temperature and a 5 mile drive at 30 mph won't typically do that. A 15 or 20 mile highway...

Full Size - Small Diesels: why so unpopular?

My observation exactly. I've put over 70,000 miles on my older diesel Cruiser and the cost of maintenance has been basically changing oil, and filters. I have a new Ram 2500 Diesel and my cost of ownership is about the same as my wife's Lexus. My Ram can Cruise 75 mph and get 20 ish mpg on 3...

Ford Tremor - Colorado overland/off-road, or Rivian?

I got just under 20 mpg driving my crew cab Cummins on 3" lift and 37s from Colorado to New Hampshire. My weight is roughly 8500 lbs. I'm pretty happy with that.

Lets see some full size pictures...

Mine are the AEV Salta wheels... kind of main stream but I really like the way they look at the same time. I don't really have any good pictures of them... but here are some pictures that do a terrible job of showing them.
