    Poll: Tubes or tubeless?

I do most of my riding in the Rocky's too (just north of the border). On my XC bike I see not advantage to tubeless. On an XC bike the weight works out about the same either way, you end up running higher pressure so there is little chance of a pinch flat and if you get a puncture on a...

    Camping with a weapon

As requested, politics aside. I'm new to Expo portal so this is my first time ready/replying to a gun thread. Even though I don't carry I went in to this open minded and decided to stay unarmed. Here is why: I've never really considered caring one in the back country. I've been playing in...

U bolt flip kit and shock mount skids

I'm in the process of fixing my shock mounts too. I mangaed to bend mine the first week I wheeled it: don't I feel like a Gomer. As soon as I bent my mounts I looked at them and thought: "it would have been so easy to have skid plated those!" Now that I've been looking at the bent mount...

    Bike Maintenance

I live in a condo so I don't have the luxury of rinsing off the bike. I usually wipe off the mud before taking it inside (more for the sake of the condo). Once inside I focus on a good drivetrain clean and lube. I ride in a allot of mixed conditions so I prefer a wet lube. If I were in a...

    Volant intake and Snorkel

The snorkle looks great! I miss the one on my old truck. It seems the snorkle is the one thing you can do to your truck that makes it clear to people you actually off road and aren't just a poser. Everyone lifts and runs nobby tires. Tons of trucks have bumpers, when was the last time you...

Toyo Open Country MT or AT? How to decide?

$$$$ was the biggest reason. The build quility of any Toyo is almost impossible to beat. It isn't uncommon to hear people talk about them not needing balance weight. Toyo's also wear incredibly well, although it is my understanding that is partly due to harder rubber. Where I live and play...

Toyo Open Country MT or AT? How to decide?

I ran the Toyo Open County AT's for two years on my Nissan Frontier. I just took them off. The Good: The tires wear amazingly well. I have a friend that has gotten 80,000 km out of a set on his Pajero (Montero). They are great highway tires; they make no noise and I always got great millage...

    Uber Budget Lift

Good meetin you too', Moab was a blast. I've gone a little crazy since then... Tonight I lengthened all my ABS and E-locker lines. As soon as I get the shock mounts figured you I'll get some pics going. I just started looking at the Moab pics. Still sorting. I have a couple nice ones of a...

    Fins N Things - goneMOAB 2010

Mr. T's Frontier will look even better next year with the RTT on that truck going up the same obstacle. Maurie

    Uber Budget Lift

Those mounts look great! I have a ton of 3/16" material left over from my skid plates, however that looks 1/4". Hmmm, maybe I shoudl go 1/4". At $20 for the pair plus shipping I think I'm just going to make my own, but it is cool that I coudl just buy them and weld them on. The key will be...

    Uber Budget Lift

I did a bad thing, I did a ghetto $34 lift using Jeep parts. It worked perfect! Here is why and how I did it. My Frontier has a Old Man Emu lift. 1.5" up front (heavy springs) and 2" rear (military leaf). At Gone Moab my truck performed well enough, but it's long wheel base, and low back...

    Front End Squeak

The hood squeak is a common on for sure, the other problem is the sway bar. The sway bar bushings sit at the front of the truck and pick up allot of road grime. Try lubing those front bushings first. Maurie

    Fun with Pull.Pal

A buddy of mine use to carry a spare axle shaft with him (he had a Ford). If he was ever too stuck he said he'd pound it into the ground to pull himself out. I never witnessed the procedure. I'm guessing he'd leave the axle in the ground and keep on going (meaning you lose your spare parts...

    Fun with Pull.Pal

Can you tell me more about the beer? Since you have all of this gear I would also consider adding a tree strap to your kit. Depending on where you are there is often a tree near by and it is going to be much easier to pull off a tree (with a properly secured tree strap) then to set all of the...

    Air pressure

I ran Toyo AT's on my 07 frontier for two years. I did a lot of fire road with the truck and never aired down. I did however air down for anything more agressive than fire road. For me I was worried about side wall damage and tire wear. The Toyo's only have a two ply side wall compared to...
