Maybe some spacers on the frame rails to make a level platform and some thru bolts to hold the beast down. Might not be enough for when the camper starts swaying. Guess i need to put some thought into it.
yep, I'd rather stay away from a commercial flatbed. Just would like to build up off frame rails keeping the whole thing as low as possible. Service body is a good idea. Might be a bit heavy.
I'm just not sure if the lance is structurally capable of just sitting on a flat surface only (with no...
Anybody out there have any experience with mounting a camper without the truck bed? I never use the truck bed and like the idea of extra storage possibilities.
Specifically I'm trying to determine where on the camper I would need to attach to truck. The four stock corner mounts would be...
Agreed, once I decide on a design I will most likely mock it up fullsize. We're lucky because we can alway go in our lance and get a feel of some design elements. Still trying to decide crewcab (currently own) or supercab (would have to trade for). Not sure if i can get the CG far enough...
No doubt about that! All joking aside, it's a great way to easily get an idea of space and line of sight. It all looks good on the flat, put it in 3d and things change. It's important in our build for us to have a real open feel to the interior. Still trying to decide if a double door might...
Also thinking about a build. I made a model so the chief could try out different layouts and get a feel of space.

Amazing what you can do with a Sierra Nevada box

In designing our camper build the chief and I have one determining height factor....

Our current lance camper has 33" of space (not including mattress)...about the minimum. 36" would be a little better.
My 2 cents
Just a thought...
I would like to do most of the build in the garage. What about building wall panels separately, flat on a floor then assemble and bond corners when all are ready? Also, what about using regular old smooth hard side fiberglass rv siding layed flat (upside dw) and bond 1"& 2"...
Question for you pros....
I'm also contemplating a camper build. Like the idea of aluminum framing but having a hard time wrapping my brain around how to connect framing members without welding. Is there company that makes this sort of hardware? Any other ideas out there?
thanks
