Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

Two thoughts, walk or use public transportation for a month and the tired of old stuff not interested in new stuff is less of an issue. I always liked old stuff, but old stuff is not practical when your livelihood depends on you seeing customers. It's no fun laying under a truck at 1 am on a...

Tired of Old Junk but no Interest in Newer 4x4s

Probably because something else breaks a week later and the customer says you broke it.

Switching from 4 to 2 wheel solo travel

This post brings up very good points, KLR does come up a little short in a few areas. Brakes arent the best, stainless brake lines help, but the cure would be larger brakes. It's down on horsepower compared to the KTM-690 which will rip, but the one I rode shook like a paint shaker. I think the...

Switching from 4 to 2 wheel solo travel

Technical and good highway manners are really kind of incompatible. Technical can be done on a big bike but its no fun and exhausting, 800 mile days can be done on smaller technical type bikes, but its no fun and exhausting. A 650 whatever single would be my choice. The new KLR 650 is pretty...

    Refilling 1lb tanks at home

One tank will have 250 lbs or so of pressure, the other will have between 0 and maybe 3 or 4 lbs. The pressure will equalize as you fill the smaller cylinder, The pressure is just pushing the liquid. By freezing the small cylinder you reduce the pressure in it, by heating the larger cylinder by...

Searching for a 35-45 QT Cooler

Rotomolded are not space savers for sure, maybe a soft cooler like an RTIC 40 can or Yeti Hopper. For a hard cooler the Stanley Adventure cooler is a pretty good cooler thats compact. I keep a 16 qt in the truck behind my seat and it never sweats (which is more than I could say for my Canyon...

    Refilling 1lb tanks at home

Refilling is about as safe as using the tank to start with. Buy the kit with the stand if you do it very often as its just a whole lot easier than balancing the 20 lb cylinder upside down to pull liquid from it. You wont usually get close to getting the small cylinder to 1 pound without a bit...

Handmade Leather Boots for Overlanding / Hiking / Etc.?

I expect comfort immediately, not willing to suffer thru break ins when fighting a heel spur and associated plantares fasciitis. Last time I broke in a pair of hikers (Meindls) I ended up on a walking cane for 2 weeks. I dont do board last anymore either, so comfort is usually immediate (Hoka...

Refilling 5lb propane tank from 20lb?

Normally it needs to be sent off, but not a big deal, usually takes a couple weeks to get it back.

We refuse to fill out dated. Failure to do so opens you up to a lot of liability.

Refilling 5lb propane tank from 20lb?

12 years old is first cert if I recall, every 5 years after that with no limit on age with a visual check. I think the last time I remember we were charging $30 to recert. Most time we just tell people to go to a Home Depot and swap them out. Impossible to do with a 5 or 10 though
