Exploring Options for an Expedition Vehicle for Global Travel

Huh, I didn’t see anything on 4.30 gears. Thanks for the information. So, the camper package on the F350 turns it into an F350?!

The Ford website doesn't give details on what each of the options adds. The 11,400 GVWR package option doesn't explain what that option adds. Likewise, the snowplow/camper package option. I noticed that some posters on this forum mentioned the snowplow/camper package, but I don't know what it adds.

Ah gotcha. I’ve no plans to incorporate such a passage anyway.

Sounds like it's just a matter of planning the trip around the RORO ports and shipping dates leaving room for error. Is there some way to find out which RORO shipping companies are best for certain destinations? Or just ask around on this forum? How do you mean?

What does RORO stand for? Can someone give me a list of companies that provide it? Thanks, Mike

That's a good idea to rent first before buying. I may do that depending on how much they charge for the rental. I agree that 95% of my trips will be on paved roads. While, the AWD Honda CRV handled the gnarly roads I was on pretty well, I would have been more comfortable in an F350 4 x 4 with...

Would you mind explaining what the rear locker is? Or maybe a link to explanations? Thanks, Mike

Sold! I’ve never liked diesel anyway. Too dirty any smelly. What options should I look for in the F350?

The payload considerations is making me lean towards the F350. Better to be safe and get something that can get me out of a sticky or stuck situation. I’ll just have to drive shorter distances to accommodate my budget.

Thanks for the link and book suggestion. The book looks like a good one. I like the idea of buying something already equipped with certain things. I’ll have to look into what’s available. I’ve got plenty of time to build my own RV.

North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand. I’m currently figuring out how I can do the international traveling on my limited budget.
