I love to get out and explore the Southwestern USA, especially Arizona. I have been doing so since 1995 through various Jeep clubs and with small groups of friends. My first Jeep was a 1987 Cherokee which I purchased used and it gave me nothing but electrical troubles to the point I didn't go out exploring with it. Several years later I got the "bug" again and purchased a 1983 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler over the internet (big mistake). This vehicle was simple to work on and I poured lots of time and money into getting it trail worthy. My thought at the time of its purchase was "who in the right mind would spend thousands of dollars on an off road vehicle just to take it out into the desert and beat it up?" I was soon convinced by my wife to get a modern Jeep, so in 2010 I purchased a brand new Rubicon Unlimited thinking I would never need to add to its capabilities for the mild overland exploring I was doing. It cost 5 times what I paid for that Scrambler. The Rubicon has taken me on many fine outing all over the western USA. Those were wonder experiences that I have shared with new friends and my family. In 2014 I had to commute back and forth to California for my job and my overland exploring has dropped down to nothing. The Rubicon has sat in the garage not really being used. Then in 2018 I got the "bug" again really bad to get back into Porsches so I purchased a diesel Cayenne (for gas milage, towing, and comfort). I have put on a 2" lift, 32" BFG KO2's, tire carrier, winch plate (no winch, used as recovery points), full underbody skid plates, rock rails, removed the rear seats and install a sleeping platform, ARB fridge on slides, 700W microwave oven, GMRS and HAM radios, Ecoflow Delta 2 for powering the fridge, microwave, radios. I now go where my JK use to (for the most part)!
