First, thank you for buying a Skottle!
I can tell you what I have tried and use.
Hi temp silicone spatula
Wood spatula
Flexi metal spatula
Spring tongs
Wooden tongs
I personally use a flexi metal spatula and short stainless steel spring tongs with a rubber inserts in the handle part...
Two good ideas MattJ ! Another low power idea is to let the burner just sit in the stove cage, no eyebolts holding it. It will lower the burner about one inch below the pan.
We now have a kit that makes both the standard and Adventure Skottle the same price. They both cost about the same to manufacture, so the price is not different. However, depending on which stove you choose (if it is not the KIT) , will push the cost much higher. I don't have much control...
I have just returned from France and I carred the Adventure Skottle in my luggage. I did not take it as carry on, although I don't think it would have been a big issue. The long legs of the regular Skottle would not work as carry on.
Yes!!! I have designed an adapter for the MSR Wisperlite stove. Check the pictures below. The adapter will allow the Whisperlite to attched to the bottom of the Adventure Skottle grill.
The JetBoil MightyMo stove will fit in the Skottle carry bag with no problem. You can even store a gas canister as well. We are testing the MightMo for wind, so the jury is still out. The flame on the Jetboil is very strong, so a moderate breeze should be fine.
