    Galaxy Tab A

Awesome! I'll probably pick it up then. Thanks. My current tablet won't recognize my APRS cable and thought I might upgrade to a slightly larger one.

    Galaxy Tab A

I found a good price on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it for mapping and general GPS. I have some other uses for it with APRS and some other Amateur Radio programs so I'm looking into those as well. Thanks far any help.

NPOTA - National Parks On The Air

Just saw in an ARRL e-mail that they've opened some Manhattan Project sites on a limited basis for NPOTA. :ylsmoke: http://www.arrl.org/news/manhattan-project-sites-now-eligible-for-national-parks-on-the-air-event

Ok all you antenna craftsmen, got a question.

Here is the ground plane I use at my house. It's simply slipped into a section of 3/4" PVC for a mast with the end split and a hose clamp tightened to retain it and slid into an old satellite dish mount with a korn clamp to hold it in place. I used S/S welding rod for resilience but it's hard...

Ok all you antenna craftsmen, got a question.

I'm pretty sure 70cm is a harmonic of 2m IIRC. I'm 99% sure my 2m 1/4 wave ground plane antenna above my house returns a 1.3:1 on 70cm as well as a 1.1:1 on 2m. I'll have to hook my dualbander up this week to double check but I'm pretty sure a 2m vertical dipole would have a reasonable SWR on...

    HF Radio reccomendations

Ok, just wondering. Sounds like a 857 May be for you then!

    HF Radio reccomendations

How far out will you be? I can get about 50 miles out of my little 1/4 wave tram on the roof of my S-10 Blazer and 2m Kenwood on medium power (10W). The FT-857 is a great rig, no doubt about that, I'm just wondering if you really need HF. A thrown together Yagi made from copper ground wire...

    Wife Got Licensed

That's cool man! I'm trying to get my wife in on it too. She's really social so talking isn't an issue for her.

    Crocs?

I have a pair of Crocs that look like laced loafers I wear quite a bit. I got them at a yard sale, new in the box for a good price and decided to give them a try. I'm very pleased with them and they fill that "around the house but not working" void that my usual high-top hiking shoes and work...

    Crocs?

"It is legal throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom to drive barefoot. However, in some US jurisdictions, police officers may ticket a driver for other things if the fact that they were driving barefoot or in flip-flops/high heeled shoes hindered their driving and/or...

    Easiest car to car communication?

We've had mixed results with handheld CBs. Most of the time, over short distances (100-300 yards) they've done ok. However we've had a few that wouldn't transmit clearly from inside a vehicle to a mounted CB bumper to bumper. My Baofeng UV-5RA has given me good results with well over ten...

    Easiest car to car communication?

I vote for the FRS/GMRS radios too. I have the Baofeng and they work good but those little radios you buy are already set up and ready to use. Just put in batteries, pick a channel and you're off and running without having to learn software or the headache of programming one from the keypad...

advice on CB antenna and coaxial cable for disco 2?

Your money should go into the antenna setup. It makes the most difference in how well the system works. I had a Wilson 5' Silverload fiberglass antenna and it broke off at the base on the first trip out with it. I then got a bottom loaded antenna and that didn't work at all where it was...

    Inexpensive Ladder Racks

This is going on a stepside bed, so I don't think I'll have to widen it any. I've basically decided to use steel, even though I'd rather have aluminum because of rust but I just can't justify the cost of the machine right now. I think I'm going to use 3/8" plate under the topper with a strip...
