    '77 Cherokee Chief....

I say go for it! $1200 for something with no rust can rarely be a bad deal. I've been looking or a four door myself. There's something cool about cruising around in old sheet metal. Just know it will have some, lets say, "character" to it's ride.

How does the oil look? Any metal in it? I would pull the valve cover and the oil pan and check everything out, both of which are among the simplest of jobs. Chances are you will find the problem.

    Overland XJs Unite!

Recovery points and skid plates. Your always going to need them no matter how built your rig is. Also, swaybar disconnects for obvious reasons.

I hope everything works out for you and the xj. If worst comes to worst, a used engine/donor rig can be had very cheaply and the engine swapped in a weekend.

    Round LED Replacement Light Suggestions

I have been running the headlights on my jeep this way for a few months now and the difference even with the stock lights was amazing. It might be worth just wiring them straight to the battery temporarily to see what the effect is.

Jeep TJ spits and sputters when started cold?

I had the same experience the beginning of this winter with my XJ 4.0. It would start but would run very rough unless I kept on the gas a little. It was the battery which after a couple weeks of this couldn't start it anymore.

    ZJ front end parts

Yep V8 ZJ tie rods are the part your talking about. The rest of it is the same. You can also upgrade to their 136 amp alternator. If your looking for a tie rod, Iron Rock Offroad sells one for around $60 1.25" solid wall. I've been using it for 6 months or so and it's held up great, and...

    Burzon's 2004 4Runner SE (V6) Overland Build

Wow, that had way more upgrades than I was expecting. By far the coolest XJ I've come across! Looking forward to seeing the 4 runner out on the trails at VOT. I definitely need to get over to VT and explore some of the class 4s before then though.
