That's the same way I went. I used them to mount some Thule blockheads for holding mtn bikes.

Poly Performance sells Nordskog digital gauges in amber. I've been considering adding the outside air and voltmeter gauges to my overhead. I'm not normally a fan of digital, but I think for air temp and voltmeter it's perfect.
