I use a similar a similar appliance made by Johnson Controls I think it is to manage temps of unfleshed fur skins in a chest freezer so I can store them for a while before finishing. You can set the +/- threshold and literally dial in the "perfect" temp and hold it there. Very useful

4 years ago you could get a loan for one at roughly 3.5-4%. Given that my meager portfolio is running at around a 10-12% avg for the last decade I wouldn’t exactly consider it deranged. But that’s just me.
