I've contemplated doing something similar using a surplus S-788 shelter. http://www.gichner.us/s-788.html I may still go that route if I can figure out a layout that works. I haven't seen many other options for a modular type set-up.

Good to know. If I can get the cooking method sorted, I'll probably modify the legs to add in some height and leveling ability. At 6'1", the skottle sits a bit low for my liking.

I'm in the chain camp as well, for many of the same reasons all ready mentioned. I think they hold up to abuse a bit better than a cable or strap. I keep it in a bucket, keeps it from getting tangled, and makes it easy to move around. Plus the bucket can come in handy for other uses too. Sent...

A single handle would be too wide, but a pair of looped handle like the lid uses now should have plenty of room in the bag. I've been casually looking for a pot that would serve this function, but haven't found anything quite what I want. I'll check out some woks. I've got an old Tramontina 10"...

If this lid had handles on the side, it'd be much more versatile. Then you could use it as a serving dish, wash bowl, and potentially a cooking pot, etc. I know the handle is easier to use on the top, but the compromise for added function I think is worth it.

I really liked the Fiskar shovel I had with a metal handle. That thing was solid. Unfortunately someone decided they needed it more than I did, and my local hardware store doesn't carry them anymore. When my fiberglass one breaks I'll get a replacement from Amazon, or do like dumprat and weld up...
