    Making a ifting roof on a 110

I feel your pain. I fabricated my sides and rear then discovered to my dismay that the 110 is not 'square' (side to side) it actually 'leans' to the driver's side meaning that I had to 'accommodate' this error in the assembly. The main part it affected was the rear section, which was already...

I wondered how it was coming on. Have you decided on the lifting method - gas struts and a front hinge?

    Making a ifting roof on a 110

Thanks Arjan! The fabric sides were good for summer use, and when it wasn't terribly windy, but not a lot of fun in the winter. The hard sides are insulated and dry, and despite a few hours of pretty strong gusts on the North Coast straight off the Atlantic the van just rocked a wee bit but no...

    Old series Land Rover?

My pal just renovated and restored this for his young daughter to use. New chassis, bulkhead, engine overhaul....

    Making a ifting roof on a 110

Well I finally got it my 110 roof fettled and working as I wanted it to, so took it for its first test drive last week for a few days just up the road from my home in the north (of Scotland). Now the restrictions have eased its legal although still required no-contact interactions (hardly saw...

    Making a ifting roof on a 110

Thanks. Makes a huge difference. Nearly 7 standing height - can walk to the middle of the van without hitting my head (and I'm 6') and it can sleep two adults uptop with lots of space - 7' of length so not cramped.

    Making a ifting roof on a 110

Thanks! Bit of a make-it-up-as-I-go-along job but it seems to be taking the shape* I envisaged! *given I was adapting the existing thing I'd built and trying to avoid too much of a frankenstein look!

So, pulled it apart again and started assembling in earnest. I'd decided that instead of copious mastic I would seal the sections together at the rear corners and the long seal on the side of the roof with 2mm self-adhesive neoprene strip, then it would be easy to dismantle should I have to...

    Making a ifting roof on a 110

Update on progress: Finally got the sides attached. What a bloody nightmare 6 months of messing about with them. Put them on, drill a hole, measure. Take them off. Think about stuff. Figure out where a doohickey will go, put them back on, measure, take them off. Repeat literally dozens of...

    Defender 200 Tdi intercooler upgrade

Local Land Rover mechanic/shop owner/owner of multiple LR's from TD5 to V8's gave me a simple tip for the air filter on my 200TDi (which was put into replace a 19J 2.5TD, and still using the TD airbox) simply carefully hacksaw off the plastic surround on the air filter. It has the fins on it and...

    Making a ifting roof on a 110

:) Thanks for reading! Its getting there! The pic above was a dry run with panels attached. I'm currently fabricating the seals that will go around the perimeter (to seal when its lowered). There's a point where I'll have all the bits pre-fabricated and then its just an assembly job. My problem...
