If you are in Atacama and ending in Santiago you might mis the best part of Chile/Argentina which is anything south of Pucon and Bariloche with the Caraterra austral which was the highlight of our trip ( we wished we had 4x4 but did it very slowly and carefully w/o. Had to give up only 2-3 side...
