I used a 2001 Discovery for a few years before buying and building the Tacoma. I thought a few of you would like to check it out.
I found the Disco to have one of the best driving positions and "feel" of any of the vehicles I have driven off highway. The high seating position, long throttle travel, low t-case gearing and perfectly shaped steering wheel made for good control and comfort.
I used this vehicle on my first expedition into Mexico:
Here are a few of the modifications I performed:
Factory Brush Guard
Hella 4000 Driving lamps
DAP hidden winch mount
Warn M8000 winch w/100 ft of cable
K&N Air Filter
Garmin Vista GPS
Cold Weather Package
Seat Covers (you can't order cloth Seats)
Load Liners
Engle 42 Refrigerator / Freezer
Hitch
Center Differential Lock
