New (to me) 2002 7.3L F350...ideas on where to start....

I'd suggest you keep this forum for the adventure build and move to FTE (Ford Truck Enthusiasts) for 7.3 reliability/service details. You didn't say if your truck was single/crew cab and Long/Short bed. As for an adventure build, pay attention to the service and trade industries. These folks...

    2000 Excursion Build

Sorry to see you enter and leave the Excursion Overlanding world in less than 6 months. That was a nice rig. Great dash bezel too.

The back door option is great. Can you post a link to the vendor?

That is a gem! If you let it pass by, you'll kick yourself later.

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Good luck in your search. As for fuel, all Excursions have a 44 gallon tank. The V10 getting 13 mpg vs the 7.3 getting 16-17.5 mpg helps to offset that few cents difference. But in Oklahoma, I can buy diesel for the same price as unleaded.

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

I have an 02 7.3 4x4 Ex. Here are my thoughts.... The Ex is 9000 lbs, and has the aerodynamics of a cinder black. With that, the 5.4 is way under powered for the truck. To help it maintain speed, the 5.4 has a high gear ratio, 4:56. As a result, it's a gas hog. The v10 is a proven work horse...

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

The bumper looks great, but it appears you loose the factory receiver hitch. What is the toe capacity of the Buck Stop?

Compact Utility bed turned Expedition trailer (CUB)

I'm over in Tulsa and really like the trailer project. I'm also very happy you are here in Oklahoma. I bought a similar trailer several years ago for the same type of project, but never made it very far. Reading this thread has encouraged me to reengage on the effort. Keep the inspiration...

    ExPo's 2000 7.3 Excursion Build

Chris, I need to know more about your buck stop rear bumper. I've been looking for a swing out rear bumper for a while and thought Aluminess was my only option. Did buckstop drill in the rear parking sensors? We need more pics of this bad boy. I'll call Buckstop and ask for the "Chris...
