Making a cup of coffee stormy mornings

Here in Ireland we're at the mercy of very high winds at times. The weather can change several times throughout the night and it's not uncommon to wake up to a full blown storm outside the tent. We have a JB hard shell tent so in the tent wind isn't really a problem. So it's a case of bolt out...

Is there something between a teardrop and a regular caravan?

Have been looking at offroad trailers and teardrops and also big offroad caravans but I haven't seen anything that fills the gap between. The footprint of a teardrop but with perhaps a pop or lifting roof so that you can go inside, sit inside and cook inside. We often have very bad weather so...

Shoe holder, thingymabob, keeping shoes outside the tent

So I don't know what they are called but I need some kind of device to keep shoes out of the tent at night. I have a hard shell tent so I can't use a hammock of sorts. It also must be breathable! Anything you can buy, what are they called? Or even better, something handy you can DIY?

We had a race to see who could set up their tent the fastest, yes, there's a video!

After months of arguing online we decided to have a race setting up our tents, who would be the fastest. Well, here's the video I think to summarize, there's not much difference between them. 3 luxury tents and no matter which one you have you'll be ready to sleep in about a minute. This...

Surfboard on top of JB tent?

Has anyone here mounted roof bars or similar to a JB tent to carry surfboards? I'm was going to use those soft foam roof bars on top but then you need to take the boards off every time you pop the tent. Not the end of the world but I was just wondering if there were any other clever solutions...

Defender 90 drawer build (Pic heavy)

I needed a drawer for the back of my 90 and none of the commercial options appealed to me. Sure, some were nice but none utilised the space particularly well. So after a while of thinking, drawing and planning I had come up with an idea. Started by welding up a frame for the drawer runners...

    School me on toilets

I have no problem with a shovel when wild camping and if the facilities are bad at the camp site I've a decent tolerance, should the facilities be too bad - I've a shovel! The whole toilet situation has never been a real problem for me. I'm trying to get the wife to come out a bit more and she...

Hard shell RTT in the rain (Attaching an awning)

I'm waiting for my James Baroud Hard Shell RTT to be delivered. In the meantime I have been thinking about how to get in and out when it's raining. That's most of the time here in Ireland... I came across this solution on another forum and was wondering if anyone as done anything similar. They...

Awning or shelter at the back of pickup

I have a Defender pickup with a canvas back. The problem is using it when raining. I am trying to find some kind of solution to cover the cooking area/loading area/everything-area. It has to be quick to set up so I can just stop road side for a cuppa. Any suggestions???

    Theftproof pickup with soft top

I have a Land Rover Defender Hi Capacity pickup with a canvas soft top. I'm looking for ideas how to secure the items in the back a bit better. I have things like a fridge and storage boxes I'm trying to protect. I realize no system is ever theft proof but I want to make it a bit more difficult...
