    The Working Wanderer

Being born and raised in San Diego, I learned to love the desert. The wild flowers in the spring, riding dirtbikes in the sand dunes during the winter, beach time in the summer (which is 10 months a year). However, living there for 40 years, also made me tired of traffic, taxes, rules, laws...

"WYOMING OVERLANDING" And other life expeditions!

I am working at the Fermi Nuclear Power Plant in Monroe, Michigan. I am a pipefitter/welder by trade, but do mostly supervision work now, and the majority of that is in Nuclear Power. It is cool because we get to travel a lot and see many places. We especially like discovering local food spots...

The fence is primarily to keep the deer and antelope out of our garden. The goats have already proven to us once that they will come and go as they please.

YES! When they post 35 MPH they mean it! We have gotten used to the spots the troopers hide. But we see people getting ticketed all the time, especially in the summer. My wife got stopped doing 70 in a 65 on the way to Worland. The 70MPH sign was just a hundred yards ahead and visible from where...

"WYOMING OVERLANDING" And other life expeditions!

You could spend days at Yellowstone. Jackson is good for a couple days, especially if you choose to rent a raft and make some trips down the river. Cody is a cool town. The Buffalo Bill Cody Museum is nice. They have a huge gun collection. Of course you gotta see the Tetons, and check out Ten...

Awesome adventure! The food looks awesome. I was born and have lived in San Diego all of my life, until this past January, when we moved to Wyoming. I really miss the food and craft beer! P.S. I am sorry about your loss of a friend.

Our Cabin... There is a guy in the nearby town that owns a saw mill. We try to buy all of our lumber from him. I like supporting local small businesses. He sells me the trim pieces from logs by the trailer load. This fence and goat pen cost me about $35....and a lot of sweat!

Our Cabin... When finished, our cabin will be 12' x 32' with an 8' porch. It will have a sleeping loft for my wife and I and a small single bedroom for our son. We will have a single bathroom, 6' x 8' with shower, sink, and a dry composting toilet (urine diverting). Hot water will be supplied...

"WYOMING OVERLANDING" And other life expeditions!

As summer starts to come to an end it became time to start thinking about work again. My next assignment would take us to southern Michigan. Typically we would jump on the interstate (I80 or I90) and get to our destination asap. Not this time. I was inspired by Kennyj here on Expo. He had just...

"WYOMING OVERLANDING" And other life expeditions!

Fast forward a few months into this past summer. We discovered, about 25 miles from our property, Anchor Dam. The history is pretty interesting. It was an Army Corps of Engineers project back in the 50's. Never held water, first time they tried to let it fill...well it flushed! Owl Creek...

"WYOMING OVERLANDING" And other life expeditions!

I apologize for the blirp type of entries, as I am trying to go back through photos and piece history together. We arrived back in Wyoming, eager to get started building, and to explore. We started building a small cabin. This would be home base until the main house could be built. We are doing...

Traveled to Pennsylvanya Not long after getting to Wyoming, I received a call for work, in Pennsylvania. Back in the truck! We didn't take to many pictures on the trip to PA, but once we got there it didn't take long to find nature. Seven Tubs Scranton, PA A couple miles from where we were...
