Ram Chassis Cab vs 3500 Pickup for next vehicle? Input needed! For flatbed truck camper.

I built a big rig on a RAM3500 truck. I started with a mega-cab and lengthened and "leveled" the frame. Check out the build here...

10x11.25" One Piece Super Singles? (20")

I hate to do this to you but ... I got some rims (20") from a guy custom, but for the life of me I can't remember the name of his business. Its in my build thread though. I could figure out how to search it fast...

Newbie needs assistance with tire choice for new to me 2020 F550 4x4 Overlander

Just adding my .02. With my build I was 13,200#, BDS leveling/lift kit and Toyo 37" Trail Grapplers. The Fox 2.0s were not enough. I only got 6K miles. I switched to King 2.5 custom valved by Thuren.

Well the latest big trip is in the books. We did a ski adventure chasing the powder and gypsying from one parking lot to another fully off the grid. We were in Utah, Wyoming & Colorado. We had some very cold temps overnights and the rig was up for the task. The Rixen/Espar hydronic heat kept us...

Thanks for the question. It is a good one ... Somewhere in the thread there are pictures of the frame before everything gets mounted. But, basically it is a 3-point mount. Front mounts: Custom welded to the frame behind the cab there are two feet or platforms approx 8" square. These were...

A further update ... I had trouble with the Fox 2.0 shocks on the front that came with the BDS kit. Both ended up leaking out and only made it approx 6,000 miles. First bad news, is I had no idea how bad it would be to drive this thing with bad front shocks. It was definitely a handful. Short...

Wallcovering - Looking for input & ideas

Sorry, I just found this unanswered question ... You might be done or already well on your way with your build. In the end I was not able to find anyone that could deliver FRP panels for a reasonable price and weight versus doing it myself. So, we built a vacuum table and made our own. Carbon...

The 3500 ride has be excellent. You might have seen that part of the build included a leveling kit from BDS. I think it works out to 3" of lift in the front. I also did air-bags in the rear to help with the load from the camper. All of these changed the handling for the better. I already needed...

Rim repaired. Gotta love steel and a hammer. New tire. 37x13.5R20 Nitto Trail Grappler. I added a gantry sort of thing to the roof and made up a 6:1 hoist out of Harken sailing blocks. Getting the spare on and off now is a one person job. Problem solved.

Expedition Gear Hauler Trailer Build for V3-XV

I have started to make some progress. Bike fork mounts installed on the one wall and shelving built to hold 20 plastic boxes. The shelves will get shock-cords with hooks for each box stack to keep them on the shelves going down the road. I still need to figure out velcro holds for the rear...

Yes, the steps are great. I couldn't find a 4 step model and therefore the first step is a good one. Putting the hand rail on (shower bar from Lowes) makes it easy enough. They seem to go up and down consistently and I switched them from both the inside and out, so I can raise them when I am...

They are electric 3 step Kwikee stairs. I found mine on ebay. I didn't use all of their wiring harness, switches etc. I was able to use a simple 12v polarity reversing switch. I found a link below...

Well, the first official shake down cruise is in the books. But, not without some struggles ... So, you don't have to go back to the initial post, the original idea of this build was to be able to chase the powder skiing, ride bikes wherever and sail/kite when there is salt water and wind. I...
