telescopic ladder as fixed roof ladder

I noticed that a lot of folks carry a ladder of some form in their rig to get to the roof. On the LMTV it's common to add a ladder to get to the roof of the cab. I was thinking it would be clever to mount a telescoping ladder in place of the fixed ladder. Then telescope the first couple of steps...

    External ladders and safety

I watched an amazing restoration . In the video they mentioned they have a rooftop hatch to access the roof and there is no other way up there. They did this for security reasons. Is anyone else designing their vehicle to make it difficult to get on the roof?

    Vaults and Safes in Camper

I would like to put in a couple of Safes/lockboxes in my Camper. Can anyone discuss the legality of storing things in a safe? I think I read somewhere that once the vehicle is registered as an RV that it's technically a home and a warrant is required to search the cabin. If that's true then...

    Mini Split AC - hacking

I just had a very nice chat with a rep from a major AC vendor. He is also into offroading and was nice enough to answer all my questions. Here is some food for thought. AC/DC Problem: All inverter based modern split AC systems take 120/220 V AC and turn it into 48 V DC or other voltage...

Hi I'm new here. I've seen some discussions of materials for campers and I didn't want to resurrect threads from 2012. For those of you who have built/upgraded expedition campers. What target R values are you going for for: Roof, Walls, Floor? I have found some good recommendations for houses...
