There's a loud whooshing noise when I press the brake pedal, guessing the brake booster has gone South. Looking for resources to replace or repair. I would like to rebuild it but have not been able to find parts. any help or similar experiences, please let me know what you did to fix.

My 78 FJ40 has a small amount of play in the steering at the wheel. What is the most likely cause of this play. all the ball joints feel good, how can i check the steering box if I don't have someone to help out?

I have seen photos of vehicles that have a cable that goes from the front corner of the roof rack down to a connecting point, usually on a bull bar. The cables are on both sides of the vehicle. What purpose do these wires serve? Some sort of brush guard?
