I have a 96 2.5 XJ. 4.88's (don't even bother with 4.56's, the jump from the factory 4:10's just isn't worth the cash outlay) 31's I travel 700 miles, all interstate all over the southeast and back home to the mtn's of NC every week for work. I get 17.5 - 18 mpg's. That's at a gps cert 68 mph...

This is a true as it gets. If Jeep weren't cranking out some small, fuel concious suv's.....they would die, sad but true. As far as the Compass goes, while I don't like them much either, I'd drive this particular one with no shame.

$2,500 is that a typo? For that price it shouldn't even be a question. That truck in my area would sell for $5,000 or more. In good shape probably $6,000. A guy that works with my dad sold his V6 X-cab 4x4 with 260k on it for $5,000 just a month ago. It supposedly had a new motor put in it...
