Custom aluminum gladiator camper. Vagabond Vault

Seems like a lot of the short bed mid-size pickups would have this issue... I am also wondering if it should be a significant concern or not. Here's a typical short bed pickup with a camper on the back: https://images.app.goo.gl/eXAKmoGteE8JFkQP9

Anyone using the Suaoki G500 to power a fridge?

Yeah, I sent an email to the suaoki customer support asking if this is normal behavior.. should be getting a response soon I hope. Charging at 10 watts won't even keep up with the 12 volt fridge. I connect 100 watt portable solar panel when at camp... may consider the inverter unless suaoki...

Anyone using the Suaoki G500 to power a fridge?

I recently purchased one of these Suaoki G500 units. My initial testing shows it only charges at 10-11 watts when plugged into my truck's 12v cig outlet. This was after I took it down to two bars remaining capacity. When plugged into 120v AC it pulls in 85 watts.

    OVRLND camper topper

I also prefer the full length popup vs the wedge.

    OVRLND camper topper

There is an Ovrlnd camper build thread over on tacomaworld that shows huge side access openings.

    OVRLND camper topper

Packing/shipping issues could be mitigated by shipping the doors detached from the camper. The buyer would be responsible for attaching the doors upon delivery. I think the bigger issue is how the camper will seal the bedsides where the tailgate used to be.

What's the appeal or advantage of barn doors?

    GFC vs. Vagabond

I don't think this is correct. I have heard of Frontier owners using Tacoma (2nd gen) bed racks for RTTs and they had to use spacers to account for the additional width between the bed rails. Maybe the 3rd gen Tacoma is wider. Anyway, I just sold my fiberglass topper so I'm planning to visit...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

Any chance you can take a closer shot of where the Drifter sits on the Frontier bed rails? Hard to tell from your pictures but it looks like the Frontier bed is a bit wider than the Tacoma's. I've heard that Vagabond was making a slightly shorter Drifter for the Frontier. It looks like it...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

@Overlanerd Would love the space and layout of the OVRLND but constructed like the Vagabond. Is this even a possibility?

    GFC vs. Vagabond

Oh believe me I really wanted to check out their shop. This was when they were in the process of doubling up their shop size so there wasnt much they could show me then. I still plan to check them out sometime soon. My weekends finally clear up again after this month. I'm less then an hour...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

That's pretty much the answer I got from them months ago. I interpreted that response as "We don't know." Vagabond has invited me to stop by their shop and test fit their Tacoma model on my Frontier, but my schedule has been hectic lately and I have not scheduled anything with them. In a way...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

I have contacted both companies about building a Frontier specific model, and both have responded in the affirmative. It just seems like it's not a high priority right now due to the high number of Tacoma orders, which is totally understandable from a business perspective. More photos would...

    2010 Frontier Pro4x build

Impressive and smart build so far. (y) What radio is that? Can't make out the brand or model.

    GFC vs. Vagabond

I'm still waiting for GFC or Vagabond to make a frontier specific model before i decide what camper to put on my truck, but good to know the tacoma version could fit. Seems like there's a lot of tacoma owners buying these things right now... who knows there may be used ones available soon...

    GFC vs. Vagabond

Looks like it's making contact with the cab and the back hangs over a few inches? Got anymore pictures? I have a frontier:love:

New version of BackCountry Navigator for Android and iOS on Kickstarter

I use BackCountry Navigator as well. A useful tool for planning trips, but definitely a bit clunky using the interface. Lately I've been using the newer USFS Topo maps. Very clean and easy to read on my small device. I tried the CalTopo maps but I don't like the rendering lag when the map is...

    The Mojave Road - A Newbie's Tale Pt 1 - Pic Heavy

Thanks for sharing. Nice write up so far. I just did the Mojave Rd for the first time last week. We did it west to east so it's nice to have your perspective going the other way. Looking forward to the rest of the trip report.
