Modified Off Road Trailer Build 2017 (M.O.R.T)

I would go 14 gauge 1" for the frame. Might as well save the weight, and I think it will be plenty strong. I went .120, and its overkill. Couple things I would advise... Keep it simple!! The fewer angles and complexities the easier it is to build and trust me.. its a big project. Try and...

    Alpine Loop, CO

There are definitely signs saying no trailers beyond this point on the loop. A small trailer would probably make it, but I agree with several others in saying to leave it at camp and drive it without the trailer. If you go to Silverton be sure to get a funnel cake. SUPER nice people and the...

If you are close to Fort Smith you are welcome to come see mine. Might give you some ideas.

I need to build an off-road teardrop with a queen size bed! Need advice.

I would go 2x3 for at least the main rails. If you do outriggers maybe do 2x2 for them and 2x2 for the crossmembers. For the walls I would use 1x1 14 gauge for everything.

I need to build an off-road teardrop with a queen size bed! Need advice.

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/153929-Sb_Moto-Overland-camper-build That might give you some ideas. I am in Arkansas (Fort Smith) if you were interested in purchasing my project. I ended up going RTT and havent had much time to finish it.

I need to build an off-road teardrop with a queen size bed! Need advice.

You might be interested in my build thread. I made the fenders inside the camper so the mattress curves around them. If you are interested I might sell my project as is.

Overland Explorer Composite Off Road Trailer

Tons of respect for what you did without even taking the short timeframe into respect. Stuff can always be tweaked here and there! I look forward to seeing more about your trailers. random thought.. What about a toy hauler version? Maybe move the kitchen to the front w/ pull out slides...

Overland Explorer Composite Off Road Trailer

On the fenders I would lose the diamond plate. It looks cheap IMHO. I would do some round tubing. Have it curve inwards toward the main frame from the fender. For example say the fender is 12" wide have the steps connect to the outside corner. Then Curve in to where it is around 8" wide. If...

Overland Explorer Composite Off Road Trailer

If I could make one suggestion it would be do do something different on the fenders and steps. It would also be cool to see a model that had wider walls that sat on the fender wells. Part of the fender well would have to be in the cabin, but it would give more interior room. Just some...

    Spec Ops Anyroad (let'sgoareo) trailers?

To me it seems overpriced for what it is. Thats about as basic as you can possibly build one. If those sell for that then I need to get into the trailer making business.

Timbren- Great Products/Service. Overkill is Underrated

I got a set of the HD models, and I am not overly happy with them to be honest. Seems like they have next to no suspension travel compared to even a leaf spring setup. If I had to do it again I would go leafs or 3 link without question. I just fail to be able to justify the expense of the...

    How much water is enough?

Just as reference we have been tent camping and have a 5 gallon water jug. We just use it for brushing teeth, washing spatulas and what not. It will last us a week no problems. It all just depends on how much you use it.

    larger tear drops

Not at all! I was just on my phone so its a headache to find the thread and come back and post. One thing to keep in mind is track width that you want and work around that. I wanted the same as my Tacoma so I had to make the frame curve around the wheel wells. This gave 20+ inches of width...

    larger tear drops

Take a look at my build if you want. I had a similar problem, but only one dog. Ended up using the vnose for a dog sleeping area. Ironically I am wanting to finish mine and sell it for a 416 style for my rtt. Mainly because I boughy my rtt after I started the trailer build and we have been...

    Trailer build starting point?

I wouldn't bother with it. Build the frame how you want. Do it once and do it right. If you take that one you will make sacrifices given the constraints you are given. In the long run will a hundred or 2 matter given you get exactly what you want.

New Off Road Teardrop trailer....my home away from home!

What was the issue? I am curious because I want to make sure and avoid the issue on my build. I would love to know how the aluminum was fastened to the steel frame as well, but I guess thats a trade secret.

    Teardrop Style Questions

Ohhh and if you go Timbren and use 2"x3" frame you will need to drill bigger holes and put pipe in the frame to brace it. Otherwise you will crush the frame before you get the correct TQ. I made some backing plates out of 1/4" steel, and it actually bend the outside Timbren mount into the frame...

    Teardrop Style Questions

To me it all depends on how you plan to use it. For light dirt roads and minimal weight 2x2 would be fine. If you get big and heavy (2000k lbs) or want to take it down some trails then I would go 2x3 1/8". I used 1" square 1/8" for my walls and skinning the outside with aluminum and the inside...
