Thought you guys might like to see how I shoehorned a UPG 75 Ah battery under the hood of my 2008 Tacoma

I knew going into this that the ATO dual battery tray was designed for two Optimas which are smaller than the batteries I intended to use. I figured the tray would still be a good starting point and it was. My Interstate starting battery (stock group 24 for the 4 cylinder) was still good and I...

Dual battery tray/location for true deep cycle alongside regular starter - not twins like most seem to do

I'm wanting to add a house battery to my 08 Tacoma 4 cyl for worry-free engine-off lights and music in woods and am currently planning the wiring scheme. Something that's troubling me is the location. I see a lot of people running twins in the factory location rotated 90* using an aftermarket...

Free hi-lift from my dead uncle's shed, sitting 30+ yrs, safety check/refurb?

What should I do (beside the obvious clean/grease moving parts) to make sure this thing is safe for service? I've never owned or used this type of jack before. Should I try to remove all those cotter pins and disassemble when I clean/lube it?

What should I be using to drag large trees?

Every so often I come across a large tree fallen across the trail, for example a 4 ft diameter pine/fir or similar. If I can I turn around, but sometimes I need to move it. I obviously make sure it's safe and isn't going to come loose and roll over me once I give it a tug. In the past I've...

Is maintaining height as I add weight (armor) proper use of adjustable coilovers?

I'm building my 2008 Tacoma over time for off road camping (forest roads) and technical terrain, and will eventually have lots of weight in armor etc. Currently stock with a SnugTop Hi Liner w/ sleeping platform and mattress inside. I like to build to my needs and grow with the truck. I'm...

ARB single compressor (CKMA12) for airing up 32" tires and lockers?

I would like a means to air up my tires on the trail, currently 32". I don't have lockers but sometime in the future I may. Is the single ARB air compressor enough for this job or must I get the dual? I only air down about a half dozen times a year, maybe at most once a month. It says it's...

2nd gen Tacoma aftermarket front bumper with recovery points and a receiver?

I haven't been able to find an aftermarket front bumper for my 2nd gen Tacoma that has recovery points and a receiver. Does one exist? I want something that I can slam against rocks and trees, but retain the ability to easily take my winch off when I don't need it and/or move it to the rear of...

Sidewall strength, tire pressure, and tire quality

When I got my 2008 Tacoma last year (my first 4x4, I'm somewhat new to all this) it had a new set of Dakota Definity 245/75/R16 A/T tires, load range E which I believe to be the heaviest duty tire in terms of load range you can reasonably put on this truck. I was suspect of the tire brand...
