    Jeep Liberty pickup

Love your project! I will be doing something similar to my overly-rusty gas 03 to turn it into a 'bush tractor'. She's already lifted and has a custom steel bumper and winch as well as steel rock rails/steps.

    Homemade Roofracks.

@Rallynut78 I'd personally mount them as close to the roof as you can, the light 'spray' especially on a white hood will be quite bright.

    40 Guy builds a 100 Series

I love this idea! Now I want to do this too. Great rig, it's really looking mean.

    Homemade Roofracks.

Not on my jeep, but I added a modified Princess Auto HOB rack (basically the same as HF) as a tongue rack for our trailer. It was a good deal for sure, but as you noted only half-decent thickness of steel which makes it challenging to weld.....and oh my the original welds on that thing were...

    Homemade Roofracks.

Looks like a good design. Are you doing mesh on the bottom? I initially wanted to but decided against it partly due to cost, partly due to 'difficulty' to install (ie. stretching to prevent sagging)...and the 75 million little welds. What program did you design that with?

    Off Road Camp Trailer Build

Subscribed! We are modifying our vintage canvas tent trailer (non-pop up) this winter and you've given me a ton of inspiration. Great work on everything (including the FJ and garage), you are clearly detail-oriented. Nice to see your wife working/wheeling together with you, it's fun to...

    Homemade Roofracks.

Added to my rack this weekend to add a little height and cross bars. Polyurethane'd wooden fairing to come, along with metal mesh under the front section.

    40 Guy builds a 100 Series

Wow love those gamviti towers. I wonder if they will work on my liberty. Of course...I could build something similar... I just saw your rack build in the other thread which led me here. Great job on the build overall with lots of innovative and cool mods - this truck is on my short list for...

    Homemade Roofracks.

Just getting started on the rack for my 2003 liberty. I'm using 1" square bars attached to the bed rails from a queen-sized bed frame - pretty strong stuff actually. I chopped the headboard supports to be flush with the bottom of the rack but retained some to make attachment of lights super...

    DIY polystyrene super-cooler

Tested it again this weekend but DANG it was cold out on Friday night. Got down to 3*C here and it was warmer inside the cooler at 5*C with a full container of solid ice...we left the lid open on Saturday morning! After that it was a solid 6*C all day even with day time temps getting up to...

500-lb capacity hitch rack from Harbor Freight

I have the same rack from Princess Auto, kinda the Canadian Harbor Freight. Side note, I find it difficult not to write HarboUr... :) I used mine numerous times and had similar issues to you folks. Borderline acceptable welds, rattles like crazy, etc. I haven't used it much except for...

    DIY polystyrene super-cooler

Agree. That was the original idea to make the shell, but I didn't want to invest all that time/effort/beer money if it didn't do what I needed. :) Also, the drain is a good idea, but it is so incredibly light, you just turn it upside down and wipe it with a dish towel. Mind you, I'm not using...

Minimalist Lightweight Gear ... who else aims for less?

Ha! This is exactly me. Started as a teen/20-something fit and hungry for adventure...2 person ultralight tent (more like 1 + small backpack), mini-thermarest, MSR Whisperlite that can't simmer worth a damn, etc. Started my adventures with a Nissan Micra, terrible compression, but it was mine...

    DIY polystyrene super-cooler

pardon the mess No problem! We went out this weekend for two nights, daytime temps were around 24-28*C. The reliant container was only 1/2 full of ice this time around, frozen in our chest freezer. I put in a cheap dial thermometer and it registered between 7.5 and 8 *C, which is fine for...

    DIY polystyrene super-cooler

Hey gang, We built a double-thick polystyrene cooler a couple weeks ago based on a wild idea over a couple glasses of something or other. In fact, we used it in ~+30C weather for 3 nights, 4 days. A warm bottle of wine took a touch less than 15 minutes to cool down to *ice cold*. Professional...
